accidental social experiment

i did an accidental social experiment this morning. it was fun :) ...
so i went downstairs this morning, and sat on the bench outside smoking a cigarrette. i was wearing a fedora w/ a feather a white furry jacket, a necktie (badly tied-oops), stripey fingerless gloves, and pants covered in soot from fire the other night. i said hello or good morning to everyone that walked past and so many people just ignored me completely, not even a smile. but, ( i thought to myself) i bet if i were wearing a suit or a dress they would have said hello, maybe even a nice smile and chat. so to hell with this system that makes you believe you are only worth how much money you have and how trendy you are dressed. personally, i like to wear interesting (weird) stuff sometimes (most of the time... burning man will do that) i am friendly and wish everyone a nice day. all them hipsters are to hip to even say hello. i say- everyone deserves a smile. do what you want, dress how you like, live free, and all the happier you shall be. i bet all them trendy to-good-for-you hipsters are not having as much fun as the freaks in the fur and funky hats. we got the last laugh motherfuckers. hahahahahahahahahahahahaha... ha. if everyone could be reminded of whats really important in life- (love, friendship, family, human connection etc(my american dream! yaaay!)) wouldn't the world be a much better place? i love you all so much! power to the weird and the individual and all you that have soul! lets come together... i love you all and everyone including the hipster ignorers. love is all you need... namaste my fellow beings. )'( burn on

i hadn't thought of that but its a good idea. i will find myself a suit..... i guess i should do it on the same day ar the same time for results to be completely accurate...

Our great Governor (CA) also did social experiments... I heard (don't know if'in it's reliable or not). Supposedly he walked down the beach when he first came to this county and asked pretty women "Wanta fuck?" I heard his ratio was 1 out of 10.

Now that would be an experiment to repeat (of course you could pick whatever gender you liked to ask).

boulder co. is turning into a cesspool of hipsters as well.... i took a class at CU called "deviance in society" and for one paper we had to do something that deviated from the norm... i went to a fancy restaurant with my hair in a red mohawk. it was fun and interesting reactions. its alright having people look at you like your weird. you are, so what, at least i'm having fun.

... do something which deviates from the norm ... pshaw, I live in Utah. Just sitting on my front porch drinking coffee deviates from the norm.

Long ago in that city by the bay, I used to ride the cable cars in full costume and make-up, in character. For fun. Sometimes I made tips by posing for pictures, but usually I was too shy to interact with anyone.

Its fun to tweak peoples heads.
Most people are robots. All programmed to react to societal "norms".
Its great fun to horrify people..you know act in a crazy way , dress a different way . Just to see thier reaction.
I used to drive around town in a clown mask. why? Just to watch people laugh or frown or whatever they did , it entertained ME .
I am heterosexual, but me and male buddy of mine used to go to clubs and swing dance together. That was a blast because some people we made sick to thier stomachs . i loved it.
I like the guy on that show "jackass", he rollerskated around London in his union jack speedos and a bobbie hat on. I would do that in a minute.
yeah im weird .

When I pass through a toll bridge, I sometimes say weird things to the toll-takers. Just to make their days a little more interesting.

I wouldn't discount your lack of reaction as indicative of your dress. It's an easier assumption to make that they're feeling rushed/late/grumpy/whatever and don't want to smile. Or maybe they're just preoccupied or startled at someone saying something at all. There are a lot of reasons for people not to interact with you, even in passing.

I was just thinking the other day that I got more smiles when my hair was lighter blue. While it may be true, I can't count on the color for that. Maybe I have just not been as cheery a mood.

i was thinking maybe i was a little to quick to judge, maybe people were just rushed or whatever. it was probably 50/50. i always try to make a point to give at least a smile or nod when people say hello, but i may have missed a few in my own distractions.. i wasn't trying to be judgemental... i was just outside and these things crossed my mind, i felt like putting it into words and seeing what others thought.... that is quite tempting cowboyangel

but its still a friendly town. I joke and talk to perfect strangers all the time. (a little better results than your "experiment". Well i've seen the same thing. My job requries me to wear a suit and tie on occassion (I actually enjoy it when it's not a daily requirement) and i've found that people's reaction to me when dressed thus is pretty hostile, for the most part. this is when I 'm in a trendy coffee shop or someplace. Clothes do make the man (or woman). It's for better or worse but it's the way it is, isn't it?
