So take your best guess at what Paul Addis' sentence will be and I will give you a free ticket to BMAN 2007
Drop your guesses below and the closest guess by group consensus wins!
This is just the jail sentence portion - monetary fines and community service is hard to guess at.

As a side bet I'll say 1) more in lawyer's bills than he can actually afford 2) more 'time' than the majority of the people here seem to think - especially because since he's looking at several pretty serious charges on the Federal level. So take your best guess at what Paul Addis' sentence will be and I will give you a free ticket to BMAN 2007

I'll take a shot at it. Federal charges will be dismissed, case moved to state court. Regardless of it it goes to state or stays Federal I say he'll most likely get no jail time, 2-3 years supervised probation, fines, court costs, and a community service component.
Just for spite I'd like to see mandatory drug and alcohol testing made a condition of his sentence / probation.

I gave him 3-5 on the poll, only because he fucked up really bad afterwards by giving some really silly footage to the DA where he admits guilt and shows no remorse.

Not necessarily, a judge can order damn near anything he/she desires. I got pinched protesting and had to take a conviction for disorderly conduct. Part of my sentence included a psych eval and drug testing along with the probation. The drug testing may have been part of the states probation program.K-mom wrote:In order to undergo mandatory drug/alcohol tests wouldn't they have had to be a factor in the crime itself?
This whole thing seemed quite premeditated.

Just to clarify...I want the testing for spiteful purposes, to add an extra measure of hassle to the sentence, and to help keep Mr. Addis a little bit closer to the long arm of the law and in their collective consciousness. The annoyances of having to piss in a cup frequently and being restricted from alcohol might annoy him more than having to serve a stint at a Club Fed. Having to ask his P.O. before travelling to Nevada or doing much more than taking a crap would also be nice.

Hes an old schooler
a follower of Hunter S.
A reported bi-polar mental casualty under doctors care but off his meds..
no one was harmed
it was the hit of the burn besides Crude Awakening
An arguement could be made for his state of suggestability and his need for attention being fueled by the last DEAR BM DIRECTORS burma signs
and that no other art was damaged
during his wacky bid for burner appriciation. ( and beleave me,I had several run ins with the guy-not an hour before the act.
Also officials were notfied of his wack assed potential for trouble before he actually torched the man,yet no one seemed to take the reports seriously.
He was actually just opperating under the bare bones of burner beleifs at their core.
so he was the annoying loophole loose cannon that fucked with the Directors
of the event but yet seemingly saved this burns authenticism
so to truely prosecute him might go like this..
a plea bargain after an extended set motion for trial..
he pleads not guilty..
The Offices offer to drop charges to a lesser crime of criminal vandalisim based on time served and probation and
an act of restitution for partial damages,in the agreement that he stay away from the event for a breif period of times and proves to the courts satisfaction that he has continued medical supervision and has preformed community service that publicaly proclaims and diswades others from the troubles "THEY WILL RUN INTO" if they go crazy and start taking the burn into their own hands like he once did.
Unless he breaks bail and fails to show for court..
then upon revoked bail I say he'll do 6-9 monthes time served and then
above afore mentioned

This just came around in Portland:
"PORTLAND - Three young people who set fire to sport utility vehicles in Portland over two nights last May have received their sentences....
Dennis Panichello, 27, got four years and 19-year-old Lena Thi Son has been sentenced to two years. The 14-year-old boy was sentenced to two years of probation, and placed in a home overseen by the Oregon Youth Authority."

It says they had no political motive. Wasn't in Nevada or on federal land, but, that's one recent arson conviction benchmark.

It's Oregon. The Addis case is in Nevada. There's rules of precedent, and it's not gonna make a dif whether the people in Oregon got off or were hit with 1000 years. Oh, yeah, on Federal land - so Fed trumps State unless they, shit, I think the term is suborn, it back to the state.
Plus the crimes are huge different anyway. The only commonality is something of value was burned... It's the merits of the case which will determine what happens.
For example... what did the guy who burned the Contessa get?

Does anyone want to recast their vote?
Should we start a new poll for this one or just combine the sentence for both crimes?
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c ... .DTL&tsp=1
And since one was in NV and the other in CA now we can vote on WHERE he'll do the time.

In America you're innocent until proven guilty. But...if the story is true and he was caught on the steps with the tools in hand...I hope they rack his sorry carcass with every charge they can stick...and perhaps there's some more Federal charges that can be applied in the days ahead. Since the intended target was a church, perhaps hate crime charges should be applied.
So...is this going to be justified as performance art? Who's going to rush forward and defend the fucker now?
