No, the original graphic artist, really! Warhol, just another vogue plagerist artist of his time!cowboyangel wrote:Warhol
Dali, Monet, Bernini, now those are great artists and that cambell graphic artist too!
OK, So all graphic artist owe their recent elited status to Andy- I like his color-plate multi image of Marilyn, but you can see his graphic art background in that work. Hey, we all have to make a living in NY. Some of the best artistic talent do things like work for ad agencies and the like doing label.
I guess

Can it only be art artist or can it also be musicians?
If it's only art artists then I guess I'm out at three.
So to pick up where I left off last time, (I gave it a lot of thought.)
These had a personal direct impact on my life that was significant.
Ryan
for influencing all major artists of the 60's by his animations. I got to Montreal a little too late to meet him. May he rest in peace.Marcus Miller growing up with him and his brother was a privilege.
Rick Anderson Prerrie Prince
Ricky West of cool and the gang. One cool guy. May he rest in peace.
George Clinton for knowing Ricky and Linda West
Norban Sloley for giving my first bass cabinets.
Theloninous Monk for having a niece that helped me define my style of playing and writing.
Paul Swendsen

for doing my first real professional music video and showing me what directing and special FX's in the film industry is all about.
Les July the baddest bass player Marcus Miller and I know.
Gene Harrison
Andre Crouche
Stan Brown my first guitarist.
Larry Fishburne one of the few people who has an award from the same event I was in which I also got an award.
Larry B. Scott
Marlo The ultimate original super fine Burner girl that totally changed my world and wrecked it all in one shot, no fault of hers of course. She has it like that. Awesome raspy voice when she spoke and sings like an angel.
Alex Seneki For introducing me to Paul Swendsen and tricking me into going to the playa.
Adain Mann for knowing how to get us both in a shit load world of trouble and have a good time doing it.
Steve Parr
Brian Goggin for both good and bad reasons.
Little Richard, well maybe it's the other way around.
These had an indirect impact on my life that was significant.
Stanley Clarke
Jaco Pastorious
Tony Levin
Bill Brufford
Robert Fripp
Trent Resnor
Bowie
Andy Warhol for "Ciao Manhattan".
Serge Gainsbourg
Ian Hammer
Herb Albert for doing the first high definition music video.
Peter Gaberial
Stanley Krubic
Arthur C. Clark
Gene Roddenbery
Barry White
Brian Ferry
Ian Pooley
Herman Hesse
Boy George
Joni Mitchel
Pat Metheny
Mark Isham
Norman Whitfield
Gary Newman For knowing how to create the ultimate timeless one hit wonder.
Brian Eno
David Sanchez for showing everyone, yeah you can play all instruments and be a badd ass on all of them. He even did a double kick as well as Cobham, Lenny white and Steve Gadd.
Deadato
Didier Dambrin for Friuty loops.
Billy Preston for presenting T.O.N.T.O. and producing the 5 Stairsteps. May he rest in peace.
Gordon Parks
Allan Holsworth
Herbie Hancock for making me want a Fairlight.
Oh and of course me. for accomplishing almost everything most told me I was not going to be able to do artistically for whatever reason they had in mind.
Not quite 100 but I tried and sorry if I spelled a few names wrong. this took too much time already as it is. But it was fun.
Thanks Fishy.

Not trying to hi-hack this thread... I love what Jobs did in his garage, but it never would have happened without the artistic involvement of Steven Wozniak. The wizard of WOZ (and Jobs) were influenced by John Lennon and the Beatles in such a positive manner that they named the Apple Computer after Apple Records. Anyone go to the US concerts (US as in "you and me") should remember the big tents with Apple computers in them for everyone to try out. This is at a Rock and Roll concert (labor day weekend) campovers, Wozniak brought computers to the desert. Sound fucking familar?? (we camped there in our 23' ideal travel trailer we had at the time, with our 2 very young daughters (one of whom gave me a grandchild on the same day that action girl dropped) and our cats/dogs)DVD Burner wrote: Steve Jobs. Following is a quote:
"He formed a corporation called "UNUSON" (which stood for "Unite Us In Song") a company promoting "a new kind of unity" to produce educational computer materials, wanting to make computers easier for students to use. He also decided to sponsor two rock music events called the "US Festival". Held on Labor Day weekend in 1982 and 1983 these music and technology extravaganzas were invigorating for Wozniak."

Killbuck and I were in secret communications today. It turns out our new collaboration may get very messy indeed!

Kind of shocked not to see M.C. Escher on here, or Magritte. So I am adding them. I actually have a small Escher drawing tattooed on my back. Escher was very inspirational to me when I was in high school. And Magritte has always been good for reliving a nice acid trip...
A plan is what you vary from.
Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

I can't believe no one else put Hieronymus Bosch; easily my favorite artist of all time. (Even more unbelievable is that the spell check recognizes that name!)
I, too, have to say that my mom was influential and inspirational in encouraging my artistic development. And I have to second the mentions of Dali and Magritte as well.
Also, I have to include my favorite directors; Michel Gondry, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and David Lynch

Wozniak's supposed to be on the new season of Dancing with the Stars, starting I think in March, so everybody rally around the WOZ and let's make him the winner!wedeliver wrote:Not trying to hi-hack this thread...
