Welcome to my personality - being suited for all our pleasures. I have yet to catch my first burn, but am dedicated to catching it 2008. I want to take my own art, so I must learn the ropes about that. Anyway, thanks to all you peeps, I can feel good again.
Have you spoke to someone today about what Liberties are?

Hi tala!!
Welcome to eplaya. It’s a pretty good place with some fine folks willing to give advice.

And Cozm!!

Depending on what your art is, it may be as simple as just bringing it and sharing. I’d like to hear, if you’d like to tell about it. Please do share!

And welcome, MimeTime!!!!!

There’s a few other Tulsa Burners hanging around in here from time to time. And I seem to remember that there are some get-togethers around the Tulsa area every now and again too. Stick around here and get to know folks.

And all three of you…

It can't be said enough...

Don't forget to read, read, and reread the First Timer’s Guide.

Yes, thanks, LeChat..... it's time for me to post in this thread more often too......

Welcome, Tala, Cozm, Mimetime.....

As the cat said, please, please read (two or three times) the first-timers guide...... It's a glorious place, but, at times, the environment can be nasty..... But not if you are prepared for it........... 8)

Come by and have a drink at the BAR thread.........

hello my name is michael, my freind/new brother Randal and i are planning on going to BM '08, i have family that goes frequently as volunteer medics and have only been for half a day during a trip to reno in 04 as a spectator due to my stage of life i was in (hadn't really hatched yet).
not that it is terribly important to anyone here (but just for a brief background) i have recently lost everything i believed important in my life and need a mantra badly,
1; one of my best freinds committed suicide last month
2; i was fired from job for getting in an auto accident,
3; i have a warrant out for my arrest for not paying ticket from said accident,
4; was just released from a clinical research study in which i had to give blood about 30 times (running on empty) to make some money to pay said ticket because i can't get a job in time
5; the person i belived was my 1 true soulmate, faithful wife of 1 and a half years told me she has fallen in love with someone else has been cheating on me, and said she has been faking orgasms lately but isn't ready to loose me in case she made the wrong choice.
6; my one suicide attempt failed, passed out from the pain and only lost a few ounces of blood trying to cut my wrists in the bathtub, whats funny is noone even noticed i was gone for two hours, i actually dreamnt i was dead.
this years theme is the American dream so since all my dreams have been shattered i guess its about time for anew one LOL.Randal and i just met 5 days ago and are connected on a level i can't explain i can feel his beautiful energy reflecting with mine, we're already forming our own band of tribal dancers and poi spinners, this will be his first time going, and we intend to participate whole heartedly, so for anybody with great suggestions or ideas that can help please or if you just want to talk send me an email or a private message. at [email protected]
hey the good;
1; i made a new freind/bro at a clinical research study of all places
2; i am not dead...yet
3; i have something past an hour from now to look forward to.
for anyone out there going through hard times all is not lost weather you feel it or not, i still cry a lot (tears are coming writing these words) and it still hurts all over i fully intend to write her name on something going up in flames, we've all got something to dream for, even if we can't see it... yet! thats sounds like an american dream to me, anyone agree?

I spent what seemed like days in the morphium coma asking myself if it was a near death experience or a death experience.

And my advice to you is, don't ever belive you have a soul mate again. That kind of perfection is not available in this world, and the mere thought that you have one, can blind you to real danger signs. Last person I knew with a soul mate ended up getting stalked by him. I had predicted beating, but she had thought he was perfect.

hi everyone my names Bryan. Believe it or not i just heard about BM yea!! i know where the hell have i been -.-, o well im only 24 and ready to hit the playa. I have never camped in the desert before but camp up in washington all the time. Im really artistic with no outlet i used to draw and write but have been really caught up finding my way, and have lost a huge chunk of what i thought i was. Gotta love that, Bm is the perfect thing for my life, or inspiration is i should say, and that is what BRC represents to me. I cant wait to meet up with every single like minded soul out there. Peace^.-

Drumm - One more thing you have to look forward to - a shitload of new friends. I have managed to live through a number of the kind of things you mentioned but, bloody hell, - not all at once!

The people on this board are for the most part very smart, incredibly creative, funny, with some biting wit and sarcasm thrown in just to keep you on your toes. But I know that if I needed their help and advice, I would not lack for their generosity of spirit.

So, welcome! Come over and hang out in the Bar thread occasionally and get to know us.

Who is sideeffects?

Post by sideeffects » Wed Dec 12, 2007 12:09 pm

I am not special. I live in the suburds; I love it. I have a stable 8 to 5; I'm content with it. I have a great girlfriend (four year burner); I love it. I'm sill in college; I hate it. I'm not special.

Burning man 07 was the year I had my cherry popped; I loved it. From the ringing of the infamous virgin bell to the hazey but memerable explosion at the oil well, I loved it. I have wanted to go home ever since.

My name is Chase, I hope to get to know all the fellow burners on these boards. Counting the days until I return to the desert!

Sure you are...

You've rung the bell.

And get Isotopia to be nice to you, then you'll be really special. I can think of but a few who can claim such an honor.

Hi everyone! I'm mike from cincinnati. Over the past year I have been making my way around this great big beautiful world. I'v drivin across the plains to resuce a buddy from a mishap in yellowstone, hiked the red river gorge, and I'v explored parts of europe. throughout my travels I have heard alot about the burning man festival and the more I learn the more I can't wait to attend! Any suggestions or help for a virgin burner in their first trip to the playa? It will be greatly appriciated.

Read the first-timers guide until you can chant it Gregorian-style in your sleep. Then read the rest of the website until you are singing random passages to the tune of your favorite punk song.
If you have further questions, please use the search function above before asking, as I'm sure someone has thought of that before.
If you have a new question or specific query make sure to post in the right area... aaaand

Welcome Home!!
Okay, so ten out of ten for style, but minus several million for good thinking, yeah?

Hey, I'm ted. I'm still a virgin Burner but am coming to BM this year w/ my spiritual partner (ie; girlfriend, we don't believe in legal marriage). Anyways I love art, though I suck at painting, I LOVE ceramics. Sculpture, wheel-thrown, abstract, you name it. I ride my bike everywhere, build wooden surfboards, and swim in the ocean of Central Cali on a daily basis. If anyone wants to make us into a theme camp, we can work hard and pull our own weight. I will be going regardless, but it would be an experience to be part of something. Peace - -

Hugs and welcome home, Rocko. There's a lot of good threads about Djs, and threads about equipment in the dust here. Do a search and see what folks have said. I'd check it out before committing to dragging gear all that way. Survive your first year then decide?

Job? Uh .... huh?

Read the first timers guide, read it repeatedly. Preparedness makes life smoother on the playa.

Mike, my best advice (short of memorizing the Survival Guide) is to bring earplugs of some sort. What none of the pictures or essays truly convey is how NOISY it is there. Techno 24/7, explosions, screams, sirens, etc. have a nasty habit of waking you up from your much-needed slumber. And if you're in a tent and plan on sleeping in past, oh, say 8 a.m. be prepared to be broiled like a Thanksgiving yam. If you have Ambien, take them religiously. And drink water. But by all means, remember the earplugs!
