Hi I'm Rilling. This was my 1st yr at BM. I heard about it 18 years ago and vowed to go....Things happened in that place we call the "default world" and I misplaced my bookmark. Last year my 18 yr old son announced that he was going to BM. Raised him right I guess. When he returned with amazing stories I recommitted to my previous vow and vowed not to disavow it. My husband, our son, now 19, and our close friend and I experienced BM together this year.
I will see you next year and every year after.
Rilling

We were watching the storm come in on Thursday (not Fridays storm) and a girl said to me...I'm perpared for dust, Sizzling Hot days, freezing cold nights, but I'am NOT perpared for RAIN....
I thought about it and RAN for my CAMP...took down my closet, STUFFED ALL bedding & contents of closet in truck....wheeooooooooooooo saved by the FERN CAMP girl...and it didn't rain YEEEEAAAAAAA....*next year*
-this was my 5th- I will be perpared for rain...yes I know (iwasalwayssupposetobeperparedforrain)
Friday's storm rolled in and it was like livin' ground hog day movie...except for it ended with blessing rain...(thats what we call afternoon showers in Hawaii)
AND AN AMAZING RAINBOW
(I have never seen a brighter one and I live in Hawaii and grew up in Seattle)
The Playa is such a wonderful place it was so great to hear the whole CITY SCREAM RAINBOW....ahhhh Mother Nature showing off for us
Proving once again that she is A TRUE ARTIST

And sometimes it can rain a lot. In 2000 (I arrived on the playa that year on Tuesday) it rained every day through Saturday morning. The rain was so heave Friday night that the entire city just shut down. You couldn't ride a bike and walking was nearly impossible. But it dried up fairly quickly Saturday day and by the time the burn came around, the weather couldn't have been clearer or nicer. But I remember during the middle of the week, midday, wearing long sleeve shirts, jeans, and a windbreaker. Comparatively speaking, 2007 was paradise.

Yeah, 2000 was a hell for me too. I brought 200+ gallons of water
for squirting people with(first year with the water cannon).
Needless to say, this didn't work out as planned and we ended up just dumping the majority of it. I slept for three nights with wet feet
because the bed was longer than our tent before deflating it
and giving up on the air mattress. The good thing was that I had a half
dozen paint scrapers in my toolbox as these were necessity
for walking around without "platform" shoes. It really sucked for trying to cook bacon outside also.

We have an obligation to make space for everyone, we have no obligation to make that space pleasant.
