Placement Map Question

Post by bigbluedoggy » Fri Dec 21, 2007 5:55 pm

I was just wondering if the actual placement maps ever surface after the event. I caught a glimpse of the one Shadow was working from when she placed us and I'd be fascinated to see how they divvy up all those spaces and come up with the dimensions they published on the placement list. Maybe this stuff is all Top Secret, but I figured I could at least ask if anyone has access to or can provide a copy of the "official" placement map from 2007. That sort of stuff always fascinates me. Thanks!

Are you referring to actual placement versus planned placement? If so - I know they are out there.

so keep searching.

I'm referring to the actual map they use when placing all of the stakes prior to our arrival on the playa. I know the boundaries can be somewhat fluid once people start arriving and doing some negotiating with the neighbors, but there is an actual map that I saw for just a couple of moments that I would love to get a copy of. Thanks!

GoMonk would have knowledge of that but don't know if he's on eplaya.
I loaned him my bike his first night out there this year.

I remember seeing a big placement map posted in the Information area at Center Camp. Don't know how up-to-date it was, but it was on the wall for all to see.

I think you mean the large 5 x 8 ft map on the right as you enter Playa Information.

That map really rocked bigtime. included many major placement changes and minor ones.

The gate hand out was so pathetic that I consulted this map many times to find stuff. Eg. something listed at 8:30 and "C" could be anywhere from
almost 8:00 to 9:00 on "C" on either inner or outer side of "C"
or it could be at 8:30 anywhere from almost "B" to "D" on North or South
side of 8:30. The playa info map would have a box at 8:25 on the inner
side of "C" -- much easier!!

Thanks for that info. I was at Playa Info a couple of times and obviously played space cadet and walked right by that map. Oh well. sigh....

You're welcome. But be respectful. Patient privacy outweighs your need to know.

I know some of you already have, but for those who haven't ....

Might want to check out Black Rock Address System for 2008....

It's in "Get Involved."
