Yeah , the Catholics got 3 out of 4 inquisitions under thier belt.
My mindset was connecting Protestant Inquisition with the witch burnings

I think it was NASB, the King James version has too much
israeli reference to it with this verse, kinda taints where I was going.

even the oldest book in the bible was transcribed hundreds of years after it actually happened; after being passed down in story form for generations - and in a language that only a handful of people can translate now.

Only to be abridged and "clarified" by others every so often.

just makes me wonder how much it has drifted since events happened and how much of the original intent is true to course? just a thought.

From what I've read and such, the Bible ,especially the older parts, are just re-writes of existing fables that might possibly have some truths behind them. Back to Sumerian times and even older with the creation and flooding histories/tales. As for Moses writing the Torah, I don't think it's possible if you look at the evidence in hand.
Iv'e never really delved into Who actually wrote the first five books,
unless your meaning who translated/edited them(improperly) into the KJV that has been the mainstay since.
Damn that canonization process.
Lots of unnecessary death has occured because of the differences in versions.
As for Jesus, I'm on the fence as to whether he even existed at all.

My hypothesis is it was written by someone educated in Greek, since all early gospels were written in greek and those persons would have been knowledgeable in Greek/Roman/Egyptian myths along with Judaism. In the attempt to make Jesus more palatable to the pantheistic Romans and other faiths of the era, they added the son of god immortality which is why Jesus was virgin born; Apollon and Adonis, walk on water: Horus, unlimited food; Zeus in the Baucis and Philemon Story, Healed the sick; most gods and so on. Moses himself was storied after all great leaders of the time from babalonian, Egyptian, roman, and so on: floated down the river as a baby on a raft.

Really, who in their right mind would follow JUST A MAN when you had such powerful gods to follow. Add some genocide or Theocide to prompt the masses into converting helps a bit to cut down on the competition.
