Re: Larry Harvey for President
I do like the guy and I've voted for him in the last primary but he was way off on the Green Man pavillion and the American Dream is unlike the continuous hits of earlier years. I think all the years of corporate greed and insider trading deals are taking its toll.wedeliver wrote:an uncommon man who might understand us better then we think??

wtf?!
tell me, other than one way communications, what exacly do you know about larry harvey or what his involvement is with burningman? from most of the discussions i think people project strange things upon the man which is something quite separate from who he is. its like a hyped form of conjecture gone awry. he doesnt even support what most people consider a community other than an office job with minor administrative duties.
i realize this isnt serious, but along the same lines... seriously, wtf?

I'm with you, spect. And you know if you really like Larry's party, who do think is going to run it while he's playing with the redphone. (I hope that when the Kernel is found he'll appreciate the Cold War reference.) (I know, he has a staff, and the bad prose could be generated by some sort of computer algorithm.) And is the prohibition against Pres and VP constitutional or practical, I forget, which could put Danger Ranger off the table. I'm going to go for Dr. Megavolt, because the inaugeration would be so much more interesting.

Here are some of the qualifications for President that our candidate Larry Harvey possesses.
1. He truly believes in freedom of the individual.
2. He can keep a tight boarder to protect our freedom.
A major statement our candidate would make if he was asked. Our great country is in a terrible downward spiral. We're outsourcing jobs, bankrupting social security, and losing lives at war. We need to focus on what's important-- paying attention to our children, our citizens, our future. We need to think about improving our failing educational system, making better use of our resources, and helping to promote a stable, safe, and tolerant global society. It's time to be smart about our politics. It's time to get America back on track
Our candidate, if asked believes: 1. There is no more fundamental American right than the right to vote. Before the landmark 1965 Voting Rights Act, barriers such as literacy tests, poll taxes and property requirements disenfranchised many Americans, especially minorities. More than 40 years later, there are still numerous obstacles to ensuring that every citizen has the ability to vote.
As president I think Larry Harvey will implement a 21st century economic agenda to help ensure that America can compete in a global economy, and ensure the middle class is thriving and growing. He will increase investments in infrastructure, energy independence, education, and research and development; modernize and simplify our tax code so it provides greater opportunity and relief to more Americans; and implement trade policies that benefit American workers and increase the export of American goods.
On Education: Throughout America's history, education has been the vehicle for social and economic mobility, giving hope and opportunity to millions of young people. Our schools must prepare students not only to meet the demands of the global economy, but also help students take their place as committed and engaged citizens. It must ensure that all students have a quality education regardless of race, class, or background. Larry Harvey is committed to strengthening our public schools to maximize our country's greatest natural resource - the American people. Larry believes that we must equip poor and struggling districts, both rural and urban, with the support and resources they need to provide disadvantaged students with an opportunity to reach their full potential. Too often, our leaders present this issue as an either - or debate, divided between giving our schools more funding, or demanding more accountability. Larry believes that we have to do both, and has offered innovative ideas to break through the political stalemate in Washington.
Any statements made by Mr. Harvey might or might not be correct but at the least nothing negative was expressed.

Just like the participants in Burning Man get to vote on the themes and the art and, hey, hows about how we get to vote on the board of directors who run the show? Oh wait. We don't get to vote on any of those things.
I've met Larry. I've chatted with him once or twice with Adrian & Deidre (since he wouldn't know me from a grain of sand), and he's a nice guy. But please don't put your illusions of who he is on like blinders.
You want to vote for change? Go Edwards or Kucinich or Ron Paul, 'cause you're stuck with the major parties whether or not you like it (and I don't like it)
