Out in the IE

Post by Catwoman69y2k » Fri Jan 11, 2008 6:37 pm

Okay, first off, I know that there are very FEW burners out here in my area, the closest large microcosm being in LA/OC. Still, I figure an introduction is in order.

Im a 25 year old SoCal burner in the Inland Empire. I first heard about BM years ago but figured I would never survive due to my very very sensitive skin and the fact that sunblock will not work on me. Thanks to a friend of mine in the LA burning man community (and some foreign sunblock) I made it to 2007 and had a ball. My carcass and car made it there and back, still dusty to this day (the car at least).

I used to be a member of tribe.net and found many contacts in the LA area. Of course now that I'm no longer on there, I find contacting fellow burner in or around my area has been minimal. I'm hoping to try and use this forum and continue my slow, but sure, efforts to connect.

Burn on,

Kat

Just like on the playa, eplaya is about participation.

Just keep posting even if the threads you post in seem silly, it's worth it and you will find mounds of info and eplayans that are quite knowledgeable.

I'm not sure, but did you leave tribe?

Hope not, tribe has some awesome burners on it that may be just like you. It's early in the year and some of them (if just like you) dont post often, but when they do it's something to be cherished.

Welcome to eplaya and I'd suggest you post in the Rebbi's "Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You..." thread if you have not already done so, so everyone or most know who you are.

Cheers! Peace, Love & Playa Dust!

Yeah I left tribe. I just got tired of the site being down and the premium thing put me off after all of that. IM on Ning though making efforts to reconnect there. I have been a recluse as of late, even beyond participating with conversations in the burner community. Im trying to fix that but so far my spiritual and emotional healing has been slow.

I will check out Rebbis thread. Thanks so much. I have not done much with my eplaya account in all the time that I have had it. I used it only briefly before to find out more about volunteering for this years guide.

Most of our camp is in the IE. Tiki Fuckos http://tikifuckos.org

We do a lot of small burner style events in the area and play with a lot of the Gigsville http://gigsville.org people out in L.A. The next event we're planning on attending is fools paradise, which is about a 2 hour drive down toward San Diego. It's a "private" event on private property April 17- april 21. I say "private" in quotes because another burner is always welcome. We're having our first baby in about a month so I'm not on here much these days. If you mail me or send me a PM I can give you more information. There is a lot of stuff going on around here, but the good events are usually at least an hour drive. If you know of good places in the I.E. to hold an event, we're always looking for new ideas. Our webpage needs an update (my fault for having a kid) but it'll give you an idea about us.

Thanks. It's pretty exciting to be making a little nerd burner (at least we're hoping it'll stay that way.) Maybe it'll rebel and be conservative or something. It'll probably be a PaxtonVDS or FinleyVDS, depending on the sex (we opted to keep it a surprise).

Anyway, stuff happens in the I.E. but it's not well publicized. We have mail lists that are the best source of things going on.
