Not really the same animal donna. Being forced to work until your debt is satisfied to a land owner is not synonymous with having a job and credit card debt. Yes we are "wage slaves" in that we work our whole lives for our wages but we are not bound to someone for life. We can choose to go be homeless, we can choose to go live off the land, we can choose to demand entitlements from our governments.

That's a Biblical topic.

I seem to recall something about labor camps here in the USA after the abolishment of slavery that used an indentured servant tactic. Basically the land owner would charge the workers more for rent and sundries than the worker made hence placing the worker in a perpetual debt to the land owner basically making them slaves. Let's not gloss over it, slavery is slavery.
that's sharecropping. Indentured servants were colonial. They worked off their passage for 7 years or more, and I'm sure that many were killed by thier masters' cruelty. It just fades in comparison to the horrors of black chattel slavery.

No not sharecropping, debt bondage. I know it sounds sexy, but it's not.

OK i guess it is the same as sharecropping. I was confused about what a sharecropper was.

Debt Bondage: Soon as you show up for the job, you are automatically in debt to the company.
In sharecropping, you work someone else's land in exchange for some of the crop.

Which one would you like to try today?

Well, philosophically, that's capitalism as we know it today...... We work to indebt our employer, so that we can transfer that to whom we are indebt to..... whether that be in the form if credit or goods received....
So we're all slaves by choice.... That is much better though, than being forced, and not having the choice.....

But what's it all got to do with the Bible Question of the day???????.... which now I don't remember....

Well, from what i understand of debt bondage, you do not have a choice. They dupe uneducated people and migrants into thinking that they just landed a nice farming job. When you get there they lock the gates and tell you that you owe them x amount of dollars in advance for your room and board. They charge more than you make for room and board and they convince you (like I said, uneducated) that you cannot leave until your debt is settled.

Yea, my mistake, BDan..... there is still the underworld, even here.... But fortunatly, it's usually illegal.... but I agree, not always....

Still, those of us in the "middle(or any other)-class" end up tied to the almighty flow of capitalism........
It makes me want to go to BRC right now.......~~ playa dreams......

There are slaves at BRC also, TITWI.
thisisthatwhichis wrote: But what's it all got to do with the Bible Question of the day???????.... which now I don't remember....
Good point TITWI, here is that which was the question.

God made sinners eat and drink some pretty nasty stuff (feces in thier bread, washed down with urine), and he also told them to be cannibals.

When it came to eating thier own children, which ones were they supposed to eat ?

A. This question is utter nonsense. God forbids all cannibalism, let alone cannibalism involving children.
B. Their sons but not their daughters.
C. Their daughters but not their sons.
D. Their sons, daughters and even newborn infants.

The correct answer was ........

D. (Their sons, their daughters and even newborn infants.)
“And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eatâ€

wait -----

the number of man is 6

2 out of three ain't bad..

Thursday is Thor's day (Viking god)

2 + 2 = 4 but 1+1 does not really equal 2 - it's a assumption.

And three well..... is 1 + 1+ 1 (but not really)
