Body Paint - What kind?
Heya.
Which type of body/face paint will hold up against the BRC environment during the day time for the majority of a day?
Please provide urls as well, if you are able.
Also, please share your experiences with body/face paint use if you have any.
Danke.

we have had great experiences using Liquid Latex. heres the company we have used. Its a little more money, but doesnt picj up dirt after it dries - and it dries quick. Is flexible, covers 100% applies with a brush, and peels off in one big piece. Making clean up a breeze playside.

Body Paints
I've checked out the sites above, thank you all very much for that info. I've used liquid latex before, and like it - you can do a lot of very fascinating stuff with that.
Are there other skin dyes/body paint? I see people that are covered head to toe in various hues, and wonder how they've done it? Its not always latex - and I don't know if its the little makeup cakes that I've seen around (seems awfully expensive...) Is that what folks use, or are there other methods to shade the skin?
I've googled and searched on this board; but haven't come across any good techniques/recipes... Anybody have any advice?
Thanks!

Try the search function because I know there was another body paint thread a year or two ago. Also, go to the main website and follow the links to camps and see which ones offered it inthe past and email the contact info and ask they what they used and with what results.

seems that a lot of the full body painting comes out of a camp that fills water troughs with food coloring, then participants soak in the tub for a bit and Voila! Blue/Green/Red full body job. I've had campmates do this every year, can last two/three days - the hard part(s) - dyes come off on chairs/sheets/etc., and washing it off - takes several hands and alot of water (think of the greywater!) to get clean....maybe if you timed removal with a visit to the Human Carcass Wash....when my partner came back to camp painted blue, I informed him he'd be sleeping alone 'til he was clean - fortunately, he'd packed a sleeping bag (which never recovered from its 'dye job'), and the RV he showered in was a bitch to clean up....He did look really cool, and thoroughly enjoyed being blue for a couple of days, so.....

We had a group of hippies run nekkid into the camps "dance" dome rainbow day. I think someone told me it was beet juice or something.. all natural and whatnot. At the time I thought that if only my foot was working it would be such a great time to run around on acid with a dozen folks slapping everyone with beet juice bare asses nekkid on such a nice day. Those kids sure looked like they were having a blast, too bad I couldn't join in. They wanted to lather up my belly with beet handprints but I was a lil paranoid about "additives" stirrin up trouble with my screwy nerve. Ya know.. dont trust anyone ya dont know etc etc.
Anyway I digress.. the beet juice stuff looked pretty good and durable even though aformentioned nekkid hippies had a big ziplok filled with the stuff handy.

i have tried tons of differet kinds of body paints out on the playa over the years, and while most of them worked out at least okay, ive really developed a fondness for a couple of specific products:
Ben Nye Black Light Body Pen! - http://www.fxsupply.com/bn_catalog/bn_hair.html
this little thing is my favorite, hands down! It has ink that is totally invisible in normal light but as soon as you are under UV glows oh so brightly! The tip is very well designed so you can draw very detalied patterns or bold lines. It is perfect for the playa because the ink stays on through anything!! my first burn i drew some designs on myself on tuesday which were still showing up on sunday night. If you clean your skin beforehand and dont scrub at it, it will last though a week of sweat and dancing!

Mehron Celebre Precious Gem Powder - http://www.mehron.com/retail/moreinfo.c ... uct_ID=322
Beautiful iridescent loose powder, which can be brushed on alone or used with a binder ( http://www.mehron.com/retail/moreinfo.c ... uct_ID=333 ) and paintbrush for more detailed designs. The colors are gorgeous, its super gentle on your skin, and if you use the binder it stays on thru a night of hard dancing.

Kryolan Aquacolor - if you are going for full body coverage id go with this stuff..although it is a water based paint i find that it still holds up pretty well out on the playa, especially the metallic shades, if you get some fixer spray to throw on over it. just dont spray it in your eyes!
other than that i would suggest dropping into a costume shop and chatting with the folks at the makeup counter. Kryolan, Ben Nye, and Mehron, are all good names to go with. Also, i recommend leaving the liquid latex at home as it gets ridiculously hot, can be very painful to remove from any area with hair, and makes little moopy chunks for someone else to clean up!!
good luck, hope this helps you in your selection process!! :)
