spent like 5 hours reading about geo domes and I have no problem building one however I still have a problem with the cover. I can not find anything white and igloo's are white just in case you did not know grin. We need a white cover like old banners or something that we can sew and glue together.

I am going to build a 17' radius 34' diameter dome.

How about Tyvek? Available in rolls from building supply outfits. Or old billboard vinyl? (The backside, of course...and I guess that'd be a bit harder to come by up in those parts. Better for everyone, overall.)

You could probably make a pretty cool Inuit lodge out of some carports, though...And then some Inuksuk made from playa-covered foam rocks. And a totem pole...I suspect there'll be lots of "Eagle Clan" this year what with the theme and all, so maybe go Raven instead- NOT "Raver Clan", though...

If I see an igloo out there, I'll come by with some smoked salmon and Dead Man's Reach coffee!

Be prepared for presumptious hippys looking for ice.
We have an obligation to make space for everyone, we have no obligation to make that space pleasant.

This far out, you could work on getting white shade fabric. It would be pricey but probably worth it if you could swing the cost. It should also be a one time purchase and be reusable for years.

Here it he first hit on a google search for white shade fabric.

why not use Billboard vinyl? The reverse side is white as can be. It blocks sun very effectively, and it's FREE (billboard advertisers love giving you their expired billboard sheets)

Also, instead of airconditioner, look into a swamp cooler. Very effective in dry climates and uses a fracture of the elctricity than air conditioning units.

For your dome material... Do a google for "hospital laundry" in your area. Our camp got 200 old white sheets donated to our cause. Of course we used the key words of Art, Non-Profit, Art festival etc. They discard sheets that are too worn, torn etc. But in our case, they were a little disorganized and we ended up with a lot of nice sheets. About 15% did have some hospital names on them. But this shouldn't be a problem for you as your going to be cutting out triangles and such.

Best part about it is it's free!

We used our sheets for a privacy fence around our Lounge area. We sewed them together. We also painted a bunch of erotic art all over them which held up great.

Sheets do catch wind more then some of the other suggestions. But I have seen camps fasten their triangle dome panels with those little bungie cords with the balls. Allowed space along the frame pieces for air to pass.

Hope this helps.

....or just grab 'em from their dumpster, if you're too lazy to tie-dye 'em later!
*shudder*

The Scandanavian Camo Cloth is a big fave among my fine colleagues in Apokiliptika- It's white material like Tyvek, with nickel-sized holes punched in it in a regular pattern. Available for pretty darn cheap online, and I've seen it at a few surplus stores as well. Great stuff!
