The Religious Vote

Post by EvilDustBooger » Mon Jan 14, 2008 9:30 am

It`s what got us into this mess.

Bush pandered to the churches and cornered the
conservative vote to help him get into office, and then he started a war
to insure that he stayed in office.

So who has got the Religious Vote this time around?
I hope that the christian right sees how it was manipulated and
makes wiser choices in a candidate to support this year.
It bears watching IMHO.

~ ~ ~
O for a voice like thunder, and a tongue
To drown the throat of war! - When the senses
Are shaken, and the soul is driven to madness,
Who can stand?
When the souls of the oppressed
Fight in the troubled air that rages, who can stand?
When the whirlwind of fury comes from the
Throne of god, when the frowns of his countenance
Drive the nations together, who can stand?
When Sin claps his broad wings over the battle,
And sails rejoicing in the flood of Death;
When souls are torn to everlasting fire,
And fiends of Hell rejoice upon the slain.
O who can stand? O who hath caused this?
O who can answer at the throne of God?
The Kings and Nobles of the Land have done it!
Hear it not, Heaven, thy Ministers have done it!

-William Blake-

The problem is that the christian right are the only people on the planet that think George Bush is doing a good job. It's funny that the christian right are the biggest perpetrators of hate and violence in this world yet they claim that they are the peace-lovers who are full of forgiveness and tolerance. Bullshit.

I vote too! I don't bother putting down the pipe (or changing out of my pajamas). I vote permanent absentee. :D

Which reminds me. For some reason they won't let me vote for a presidential candidate in this primary. I know its because I am registered independent but in the past I have been able to vote in the primary.

I was under the impression that one could only vote in a primary for the party in which they are registered. Maybe there was a "glitch" in the past?

As far as the war goes.. this seems to me to be Republican and Democrat supported. Now that metalstorm area of denial weapon systems are to be deployed with support of Rep. and Dem. I fear we are really in for it now. If it doesn't get shown on the news than its not happening right? Like Blackwater snipers shooting civilians commiting genocide.. its just not real if its not on TV.

I know there's been some changes in the last couple years to how the primaries work depending on how you're registered. I'm a "decline-to-state" voter and was able to vote as either Independent or Democrat, but did not have a choice to vote Republican unless I was a registered Republican.
I'm also a permanent absentee voter, so I've already voted ahead of the Feb 5 primary.
Okay, so ten out of ten for style, but minus several million for good thinking, yeah?

Yeah in the past the dems and pubs allowed independents and decline-to-staters to vote for whomever they wanted in the primary. Not sure why it changed.

...as little of a difference as there is in the 2 major parties anymore...

I suppose the Democrats didn`t want Republicans crossing over to
the Democratic primaries trying to change the definition of "Democrat"

and vice/versa to an extent.

It seems the christian right is not satisfied with any of the GOPs candidates to date.

I wonder if it is because of the bitter after-taste of mid term election losses and growing un-ease about our questionable involvement in Iraq.

...or maybe the gradual realization that for the last 7 or so years they have been lined up sucking satans cock?

It should be interesting to see who will be the church-ladies pick for prez this year.
Too bad there isn`t some cool visionary independent like Teddy Roosevelt around...
...I wonder what Ross Perot is up to lately?

What religious vote?

A Lubavitcher in Brooklyn is going to vote differently from a Baptist in Boston who will mostly vote differently from an Episcopalian in San Francisco. Not even the Jesusland evangelicals have a tent big enough for all. In one respect maybe Bush has been good, in that he seems to have splintered the religious vote as they realize that he's not one of them and he's been lying for the past 7 years.

They all seem to agree that they hate the Clintons, ...and therefore..democrats.
All that sex and liberality.
I suppose it will all boil down to war and abortion and who claims to love Jesus more....again.

I just hope they can remember where the awful taste comes from.
And who is really running our country.

Joe six pack will prefer voting for a priest rather than a black or a woman. That is how it's going to be, unless the Republicans nominate Romney... hmmm, maybe he needs some help?
