Guilty Pleasures

Post by nogganoodle » Wed Jan 30, 2008 5:16 am

I was watching Americas Next Top Model the other night and thought to myself, if my friends knew how much I love this programme they would probably eat me alive!

Whats your Guilty Pleasure in life?

Fox's Sunday night cartoon line-up and Adult Swim.

I am a huge fan of the Network Prostitutes that write those shows.

Sadly, I get severe asthma attacks when I'm around smot pokers. Sigh.

My guilty pleasure is being a fangirl over on the scifi forums. Squeee! And pornographic fanfic ... apparently I'm a master dirty story writer, although I can't post them on the public forums. Who'da thunk?

Yay for fanfic!! Particularly: Firefly, Harry Potter, CSI Vegas, Dark Angel, MSCL, and (what got me started in the first place) THE X-FILES!!
Which shows/books/anime/whatever are your favorites, AntiM?

As far as fanfic goes, that would be Stargate, Dr. Daniel Jackson specifically, as the actor is very yummy. Most fanfic annoys the hell outta me, I mean, if you're going to post what you write, spell check and use freakin' punctuation and paragraphs!

Shows? SG-1, SGA, Firefly, most scifi but not BSG, Dr. Who, Torchwood, Farscape, Lexx, and the Treks. And then all the CSI and NCIS incarnations. And all our animated friends from Fox, and sitcoms which require a short attention span. My Name is Earl comes to mind. Oh, and Survivor and Amazing Race. And Lost. Heroes too, but I lost track and will have to get the DVDs. Too much TV? Who, me?

Wow... And I though I was bad with TV shows....
We don't have cable at home specifially BECAUSE I will get so involved in a new show that everything else goes out the window.
We have a house policy of only watching what's out on DVD and getting at least 3 discs at a time via netflix so I can watch them all in a weekend. (Now you know my dirty secret of why I'm never on Eplaya on the weekends... )
I agree that a good 75% of the stuff that's on fanfiction.net and other places is complete illogical/illegible crap. Beta-ing stories has gone the way of the dinosaurs apparently.
There are websites where you can post NC-17 fics, though. But they're usually H.P. or Star Trek or X-Files or some other "well-established" fandom that been around for at least 5 years.

I'm not guilty about watching good TV shows. Even if some people think they're bad, like Aqua Teen Hunger Force. They obviously just don't "get it", which is their problem not mine :) I'm a bit guilty about buying that 52" tv, but I got a really good deal so screw it.

My guilty pleasure right now is $30 to $40 buy-in poker tournaments. I'm slightly above break even since starting them a year ago, so I justify it as free entertainment. Funny how online gambling is so dangerous they made it a class C felony in my state, yet I'm able to go drink and gamble all I want at a half a dozen casinos just a short drive away.

Music. Classic hard rock mostly, but a little bit of everything. I haven't got a clue what is on tv. Haven't watched TV since the early seventies. did watch startrek because it used to come on right after I got off work every night. I have probably watched about a dozen episodes of the simpsons total.

I suppose not watching TV makes me a little of kilter eh?

Actually, my list of TV shows is misleading, most of them aren't even on the air anymore. SGA and Survivor are the only things I follow with any regularity, and maybe Dr. Who, all the rest are on DVD or get DVRd and watched in mini-marathons. If I catch the others, that's good, but if I miss them, I don't mind.

If I actually left the house, I'd watch far less TV.

You are poly, open-relationship or cheating? (Not intended with ANY form of accusation, BTW, just curiosity.)

Kind of hard to cheat when we have all lived together for 5 years now.
Not poly, we don't really hang a label on ourselves but we are picky about partners so its not really too open either. Maybe when I get a lil older I can get poly but right now I'm not enough of a hippy. I take awhile to get comfortable with folks to get into anything. Been married for a lil over 10 years now and I kept wearing the wife out so she wanted help with me. I tend to be high maintenance.

No UD.. both hands on the k/b.. been awhile since elf posted any pr0n.

Really enjoying Shameless off channel 4 right now.
I'm not guilty about it, but I find I can't explain it to anyone else.

A friend of mine who always rants about how he doesn't watch tv is now hooked on Buffy.
He rationalizes it by watching it on copies.
I only showed him a few episodes...
It's the same with people on the computer who pretend their monitor isn't just another Farnsworth with different content.
