need to find others! don't want to go alone!

Post by bw5783 » Sun Feb 03, 2008 11:20 pm

Has anyone actually gone to Burning Man alone? If so, I'd like to hear about the experience of solo-ing it on the playa.
There just ain't anyone else who wants to go with me this year. Anyone who does seem remotely interested just doesn't seem to want to commit. So I'd like to get in touch with at least SOMEONE who might want to combine forces for BM this year. I definitely don't want to have to go solo but if there is no other choice, maybe I'd consider it.

I'm most likely going solo, as my American friends seem to have too much shit going on in their lives to go.

I'm somewhat interested in combining forces, depending on many variables.
I'm a 28 y/o tall blond heterosexual(? ;) ) male with many interests from the Netherlands.

If I make it in 2008 that'd be my second time.

Hell, yeah! I went solo the first time. It's a real rush to plunge into the unknown.
You won't be alone for long, and probably not lonely, but that depends on your choices.

Is Stag Camp happening again this year? Saw it in 07 where a bunch of solos got together to form a camp I think.. Try this link:

I do believe Stag camp will be ther again
We had a wonderful camp last year. None of us had ever met before. Can you emagine 50+ strangers comming together, meeting for the first time face to face, camping together, Having a blast, and all of us getting along with each other as if we had known each other for years. And the best part, No Drama!!

One of my few regrets in life is that I didn't go to burning man sooner... because I was too afraid to go alone. When I finally got there, I realized I would have loved being there alone and would have had a great time.

Very well said, mars! I was the same way.

When I did eventually go my first year, I found a local group who were building a big art piece and helped out/camped with them. It gave me something to do and some experienced burners to camp with. Even if I hadn't done that, I feel like I could have done just fine showing up and setting up in some random spot (after introducing myself to the people camping nearby, of course)

Definately go it alone. Great adventure, leaves you more to your own wits. Have done it twice !
