Cycling to Burning Man from Vancouver

Post by claireru » Tue Jan 29, 2008 6:36 am

Hi All,
I would like to find some people who have or who would like to cycle to BM from Vancouver. I know it's a bit of a trek, but I think it would be awesome to get a few Burners together for the ride of a lifetime. Has anyone done this? Would anyone like to? I plan on doing it regardless, but if I could get a group together, then we could plan it together and arrive in style. What do you say?

Great, another road hazard to watch out for along with the unlit cows...

(just kidding)

Im just assuming you have friends that are bringing your supplies meeting you there? Because you can't possibly carry a weeks worth of water and supplies on your bike.

Sounds like fun - Get a great seat as you ass will be raw after a thousand miles of peddling. I have ridden some long rides along the coast and have found I can do 150-225 miles a day without too much problem. Make a plan and stick to it, leaving contingency room and you should have a blast.

There are no bike lanes and you will have RV's passing you at 70 mph. Do you really want to risk it (not to mention the traffic jam you will cause as 10 miles of cars line up behind you trying to pass)?

Of course! Road bicyclists have no fear of being hit and no concern for who is behind them! So, neither of those are valid questions.
