if you like beer...
then you should check out my blog (not making money off anything, don't worry...i really just enjoy seeing the stat counter go up :D )
A friend and I who have been talking about doing this for a while just recently purchased some (actually a lot) of second hand homebrewing equipment. This isn't related to Burning man you may say...but it is. Hopefully by the end of August we will have come out with some good recipes that we can bring out to the playa for everyone to sample. I'm talking lots and lots of beer. Look for the 'Black Rock Ale' (or lager) at a camp near you in 2008!
thanks for looking!

oh, and if you have any tips for a new homebrewer then by all means help me out.

I'll take a bottle of Water Truck Stout and a bottle of Big Cock Double Bock Bock!
After all, beer is like boobs. You need to have one in each hand!
Edited because of beer!

i'm working my way up in darkness (although not quite to the Hereford Extra dark mdm). I just found an Imperial stout one of the local micros brews that is absolutely delicious. about 9.7%. It's making my mouth water just thinking about it. If you ever find a Sweetwater 'Happy Ending' give it a try.

Those work ?skeetsh00ter wrote:bottles?! why bring bottles, i'll be bringing out a couple five gallon pin lock soda kegs.
Hmmmm...... now that I think about it , I guess they would .
There you go TITWI....too bad I can't get it get it down there sooner.
Question :
If beer is totally flat from having been pressurized already and gone flat, can you recover the flavor without losing the taste by applying co2 with it in those soda cans ???

I think so, I don't have the CO2 setup for the kegs, so it's something I haven't tried........ I could check with the local homebrew store, I'm sure, and get all the info....... Then decide if I want to make the CO2 investment..........
Hell, might be cheaper that all those damn bottles every year.......

I have the co2 adapter with and all the hoses and such.
I use the co2 tank on my flame effects on my MV.
I need a bigger one anyhow, and that one is only a one gallon .
Who's got an available tank around there ? (5 gallon or bigger )

Mmmmmm.... some good thoughts.....
I'll take a run down to the brew house, and figure out what is needed to do it. I haven't started my first batch yet, and prolly won't for a few weeks....I'm thinkin year, over year, this might be way easier.........

SS, you know Pilsners and Lagers need refrigeration to brew properly, use a different yeast than ales and take much longer to brew. You also generally need to spike the temperature of the wort to get rid of diacetyl mid fermentation...
I would suggest a California Common beer (Example: Anchor Steam from San Francisco). It ferments in the high 50s, low 60s but retains the crispness of the lagers, pilsners and marzens.
