"Suspicious Characters"
Hey, did anyone else notice this?
I was at the ashes of the man after the burn; probably after 1:00 am., and I saw some people who just didn't seem to fit in. I saw them at the campfire/wax/bongo jam a little while later. After a week of wandering around alone all night every night with 30,000 plus strangers (friends) this was the only time I was scared. GOD BLESS HOME!!

"Suspicious Characters"
It was probably me. I have that effect on people sometimes. My hippy friends' friends think I'm a narc and my business friends' friends think I'm a hippy. Just my lot in life to be stuck in the middle of the road, I guess.
If it was me, no worries, as I'm usually harmless. That's even my nickname most of the time, but people often shorten it to just "U".
As in, "Hey U, don't do that!", or "Hey U, I told you not to do that!", or "Hey U, now look what you've done!"

"Yes, but is it art?" "No, Art is over there, on the couch."

I had a gig working in rather close proximity to the daughter of a very important elected offical once. This job took place in an outdoor environment and the thing that always freaked me out wasn't when I could see the protection, it was when I couldn't, because I knew they were always there, and I was probably in some sniper's scope. I swear the hairs on the back of my neck would just be standing straight up!
Sounds like you stumbled on a herd of Rangers off-duty.I saw some people who just didn't seem to fit in. I saw them at the campfire/wax/bongo jam a little while later. Desert dogs drink deep.
i was out to dinner in palo alto when chelsea was a student there. we sat at a table next to her. (no good gossip...she was dating a dullard who only talked about himself all night.) we left, and walking out of the restaurant. my date asked me "hmmm i thought there'd be some kind of security around for her..." and then at the thunk of a power door lock. she whirled around and looked at the green suburban parked right in front with blacked-out windows where there were 4 offensive lineman size secret service observing everything.
"oh so i guess they *are* here..."

These guys definitly were not Rangers! They were all 30-40ish, not a beer belly in sight. They all had one single glow stick on a string around thier necks, and they all had on slacks, & a collared shirt with a vest or light jacket over it. And nice, neat, short, recently barbered hair.
but mainly I saw absolutely NO smiles, that was what caught my eye in the first place. I was concerned the first guy I saw was having a really bad time, and then I saw ANOTHER non smiling dude, then four, then five......

Well I am sorry that I have no idea whom of which you speak, but I must thank you for your post because I thought I was the only one wondering around all night everynight alone. Hey, I prolly was a suspicious character.BirthdayBabb wrote:Hey, did anyone else notice this?

Hee. This was your first year, eh?
But virgin or not, I can see a cop a mile away, and these guys were Professional Cops. They really reminded me of Secret Service, 'cause they were always scanning the crowd. So I figure they were either gaurding someone, or LOOKING for someone. The latter gave me pause, as I didn't want to end up in the middle of an apprehension gone awry.
I can't wait to GO HOME PEACE
