1970 Oldsmobile Delta 88

Post by terlingua » Tue Feb 12, 2008 6:03 am

The head engineer of the 1970 Oldsmobile Delta 88 wanted to create the greatest car in the world.

So he sold his soul to the devil.

But as with all deals with the devil, things don't turn out as planned.

The devil had tricked the engineer. The devil had given the engineer plans to build a car that would drive people crazy.

The day the first 1970 Oldsmobile Delta 88 rolled off the assembly line, the town hadn't seen any animals for two weeks.

The sky turned green.

The day Oldsmobile sold the last 1970 Oldsmobile Delta 88, they decided to go out of business.

Oldsmobile knew they would never build a better car.

Oldsmobile had to wait thirty years to go out of business, otherwise there would have been too much social upheaval.

Those are a somewhat prized possesion to have these days.
The Big Block 350 was only available in those (I think).
I had the motor from one in my first Cutlass Sumpreme.

Delta Dawn:

She was forty-one and her daddy still called her baby.
Everyone in brownsville thinks shes crazy,
cause she walks to the station with a suitcase in her hand.
And shes looking for a mysterious dark-haired man.

In her younger days they called her delta dawn.
Prettiest woman you ever laid eyes on.
But a man of low degree stood by her side,
And he promised he would take her for his bride.

Delta dawn, whats that flower you have on?
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by?
Did I hear you say he was meeting you hear today
To take you to his mansion in the sky?

Delta dawn, whats that flower you got on?
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by?
Did I hear you say he was meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky?

Delta dawn, whats that flower you got on?
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by?
Did I hear you say he was meeting you right here today?
Hes gonna take you to his mansion in the sky.

Delta dawn, oh, what is that flower that youve got on?
Could it be, could it be just a faded rose from one of those days gone by?
Well, did I hear you say
That he was gonna meet you right here, right here today?
Hes gonna take you to his mansion in the sky.
To take you to his mansion in the sky.

Hes gonna take you, hes gonna take you.
Oh, hes gonna take you and you and you and you.
Oh, gonna take you, take you to that mansion.
Hes got to, gonna take you to that mansion.
Hes gonna take you and you and you and you,
Oh, you and you and you.
Take you to his mansion in the sky.

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
Gonna take you. oh, oh.
Hes gonna take you, gonna take you,
Hes gonna, hes gonna take you to that mansion,
Hes gonna take you and you and you, oh . .

I saw a Ford that someone had made into a hotrod. Trouble was it was not a Mustang, but a Fiesta. That curdled my milk.

Nobody gonna beat my car
Its gonna break the speed of sound
Oooh its a killing machine
Its got everything
Like a driving power big fat tyres
And everything

I love it and I need it
I bleed it yeah its a wild hurricane
Alright hold tight
Im a highway star

Nobody gonna take my girl
Im gonna keep her to the end
Nobody gonna have my girl
She stays close on every bend
Oooh shes a killing machine
Shes got everything
Like a moving mouth body control
And everything

I love her I need her
I seed her
Yeah she turns me on
Alright hold on tight
Im a highway star

Nobody gonna take my head
I got speed inside my brain
Nobody gonna steal my head
Now that Im on the road again
Oooh Im in heaven again Ive got everything
Like a moving ground an open road
And everything

I love it and I need it
I seed it
Eight cylinders all mine
Alright hold on tight
Im a highway star

Nobody gonna take my car
Im gonna race it to the ground
Highway star Deep Purple

Nobody gonna beat my car
Its gonna break the speed of sound
Oooh its a killing machine
Its got everything
Like a driving power big
Fat tyres and everything

I love it and I need it
I bleed it
Yeah its a wild hurricane
Alright hold on tight
Im a highway star
Im a highway star

My vote's for the Galaxy 500. Owned one for about a week, back in 1984.

Then I almost bought an old Falcon back in 2000, just so I could call it the "Millennium Falcon". Ended up with a Caravan instead.

*sigh*
