So, like, how the fuck does that narrow it down to the '70 88? What if the '71 Vega caused all of that?terlingua wrote:The 1970 Oldsmobile Delta 88 was the highpoint of American Culture.

And anyway, the '70 88 had no specific engineering that wasn't the same as the '69 or '71... the engine and chassis date back several years prior.
I had one... and a '68 too.BitterDan wrote:And all this time I thought the 70' GTO was the high point of american car culture...
One of my best friends has a full-on "pro street" '69 Hemi Charger. Oh yeah, it's bad!MozyBonz wrote:no it's the 69 hemi charger Blown!!

Nice Box Burner! My first car was a 69' mustang coupe with a 351 Windsor. My father and I fixed it up and got it a nice paint job and eventually I ended up swapping the engine out for a 351 Cleveland. By the time it was street able (it took 2 years to get the new drivetrain in) I was pushing 400hp. It got to the point where we had to fabricate solid tranny mounts because the torque kept breaking the stock ones. I hit hard times in my early 20's and had to sell it for rent. I still miss that car. One of these days I'll build another one.

Nice but if I was going to spend the money on one it would look like this and have the 427 rated at a conservative 435 horsepower.Ugly Dougly wrote:Thanks for playing boy. Look and try not to sploodge your pants:

I've got a friend with a '67 427/435 Tri-Power Vette! After cruising in it, all I can say is it NEVER runs out of torque! His dad originally bought it way back when, before it was a super-expensive car. (That's also how I got the '55 Bel-Air... even just 20 years ago when I first bought the car, it wasn't THAT valuable.)

my senior year in high school, my father gave me his prized 1968 Cutlass Convertible with the 350 rocket V8, not the monstrous 442, but still pretty damn fast.
it was the chick magnet from HELL.
thanks dad.
