LONGYEARBYEN, Norway (AP) -- A "doomsday" seed vault built to protect millions of food crops from climate change, wars and natural disasters opened Tuesday deep within an Arctic mountain in the remote Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard.

"The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is our insurance policy," Norway's Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg told delegates at the opening ceremony. "It is the Noah's Ark for securing biological diversity for future generations."

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and 2004 Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai of Kenya were among the dozens of guests who had bundled up for the ceremony inside the vault, about 425 feet deep inside a frozen mountain. "This is a frozen Garden of Eden," Barroso said, standing in one of the frosty vaults against of backdrop of large discs made of ice....

....Construction leader Magnus Bredeli-Tveiten said the vault is designed to withstand earthquakes â€” successfully tested by a 6.2-magnitude temblor off Svalbard last week â€” and even a direct nuclear strike.

Norway is feeling the need -- the need for seed!

Rabid badgers? If you mean not taking the abuse of others, then yes that is what I mean.

Hot needles? I heard that expression once on a cop show, is that when you give people poisoned heroin? That is wrong.

I am talking about not giving up on yourself, feel as beautiful as you are, self respect. Feeling beautiful as you are. Self accepting love.

You, I, we, are all such beautiful artists. No one should be forced to just hang their head and except suffering.

Leave your doom behind and look inside and find the love that fills you with art.

But we also have to do things sometimes that brings suffering, long hours in the office, not going to every party, and so on. That is true sacrifice in my opinion.

But to just take the abuse is not right. Standing up for yourself is important.

My example would be, I am quiting smoking tomorrow, I don't have a choice. I do it for my love. I have to exercise and go to my job and make it work. I have to learn to love myself again. I have to help my family heal. I do not have a choice.

My doom was forced upon me and permeated by others. Life is not suffering, life is a gift. The present is the gift.

The eplaya is electronic. Free will is radical self expression.

My words are strong because sometimes strong words are needed.

Mâ€™kay,... you do realize the apocalyptic, post apocalyptic shtick is something we play with donâ€™t you? It combines aspects of playing army as many of us did in our youth along with a satire, that makes fun of the military industrial complex, and the politics supporting it that has been such oppressive shaping force on American culture. As little kids in grade school we had duck and cover drills, getting under our desks to save us from the nuclear missiles that could come at any minute to try to kill you your and your mommy and daddy. In Junior High we made mobiles of Vietnam war atrocities using pictures cut out of magazines found in everyone's homes. While feeling horrible about the crap Our country was inflicting on people on the other side of the world we also were forced to own and bare the cross for wounded knee and slavery. Scary monsters have always been a part of our lives. Apokiliptika takes there teeth away by poking fun at them. The poster art has given many of us a chance to explore and understand, historical propaganda by which gaining a little better understanding of the people who came before us and ourselves. The Call for doom is a joyous shout to the heavens with multiple meanings, one is Fuck that crap! another is lighten up none of it matters because we all are going to die.

Of course we know doom and reality aren't walking hand in hand. Just some of us are more in touch with one than the other.
