new Temple (and camp forming) - Pantheogenesis

Post by veleda » Wed Mar 05, 2008 1:52 pm

Hey everyone;

A number of smaller theme camps are coming together to work on creating a a larger spiritual nexus for the playa this year...

VISION AND COLLABORATION

Drawing on the art, ritual and sacred magic of all traditions, while transcending all tradition, this Temple will invite participants on a sacred journey of transformation, healing and return to the Sacred, as well as providing a beautiful home for workshops and events. The Temple will in truth be a complete Temple Complex, with individual domes sanctified to the Divine Masculine, the Divine Feminine, the confluence of these two currents, and the Union-Beyond-All-Duality. These Sacred spaces will be woven together in architecture of relationship built on the alchemical knowledge of many traditions, made manifest in labyrinths and portals of transformation.

We have brought together for the first time the creators of three major sacred spaces from recent Burns: the Axial Temple in 2006, the Gaia MAitreya Temple in 2007, and the Temple of All Gods in 2006 and 2007. This year's project will build on the spirit and ideal of those temples, but on a much larger and more ambitious scale. Our team spans the Bay Area, Chicago, New York, Reno and Hawai’i, and includes visionaries, fundraisers, architects, designers and builders. We would love you to contribute in any of these areas so that together we can create something truly extraordinary.

WAYS TO PARTICIPATE

We are looking for friends and co-creators who would like to participate in creating the Temple this year in any of the following ways:

* The Physical Arts: Temple Construction and Design, Visual Artistry, & Ambient Space Weaving
* The Soft Arts: Ritual, Performance, Workshops, Music
* The Healing Arts: Divination, Temple Guardians, Energy Healing
* The Community Arts: Sacred Food, Community Coordination, Fundraising, Transportation, Registration, MOOP Guardians, etc.
* The Temple Arts: Set up and Take Down Crew, Temple Guardians, Purification, Sanctification, and Sacred Space Keepers

CAMPING WITH THE TEMPLE

We recognize that we all have different needs and desires when it comes to community collaboration and camping on the playa. In order to foster diverse partnerships, we have three pathways of participation in the Temple project.

* Entheon Village: If you’re one of the people that doesn’t want to worry about things like food and showers on the playa, you can camp in Entheon Village, our partners in the project and hosts of the physical site for the Temple. Entheon will provide gourmet food, showers, logistical support, and other amenities in exchange for a $333 fee, a kitchen shift, and Temple service.

* Independent Pods: If you come as part of a pod (i.e. a self-organizing group of, say, 10-25 people) we will provide you with power, camping space and some communal space, for a fee likely to be less than $100. The fee will go directly towards supporting the infrastructure, art, and transportation of the Temple. Your pod will be responsible for all your other amenities.
* Affiliate: If you still want to participate in the Temple project this year, but already have camping plans elsewhere, we will happily accept donations of time, love and service.

We'd love to find more playmates. :)

I think so.. We were thinking it would be great to have a temple map at our temple..with the location of all the other temples.. something to key us all into each other...and our various activities..

build more cross-playa energy flow.

luv n' rockets;

This sounds exciting. '08 will be my second burn and since I left the playa last year I have been hoping for an opportunity to help build a temple at this year's burn.

What type of time comittment would you need if I wanted to help build the temple? Would I need to arrive earlier than opening day?

I am not a skilled laborer ( e.g. a carpenter or architect ) but I have no fear of hard work and long hours.

BTW, I have already purchased my tix ( for my wife and myself ) and am not looking for a free ride. I only brought up early access because my experience last year made me want to ( a ) help with the hard work necessary to make BM so wonderful and ( b ) experience the playa in a quieter state ( although we did get there on Tuesday afternoon last year and that was a much different atmosphere than the weekend ). I have done a lot of production and currating work putting on performance shows and I appreciate the work that goes into making them a reality.

There will be limited access for camps and art projects. A large camp may get 10 early entries (that's what I remember from last year) and those will go to the campmates that are deemed to be the most useful. So you may not have a chance if they only know you off the net and they have other trustworthy bodies to fill the quota. This is my off the cuff analysis, not something based on actual experience, but I wanted to let you know what you might be asking for.

Thanks for the info. It will help me to know in advance how the larger camps work behind the scenes. I am in NYC, so there may not be as great an opportunity for me to prove my worth to a camp by joining in the advance preparations that need to be done locally. However I will still make a concerted effort to whore myself out to a worthy cause / camp.

Cool ~ ya I have heard about multiple sacred spaces that will be popping up around the playa, many of us with similar intentions. I really like that you are trying to connect the flow of these energies.

I'd bet that the Temple of Community would love to be a part of that map and to co-collaborate with you all. Could you let us know how we as an organized group can get involved and share resources? Thanks!

If you haven't heard about us yet, heres a thread about it: http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0
