Velvet On The Playa

Post by Trieste » Tue Mar 18, 2008 7:46 pm

How well does velvet (of any kind) hold up to the dust? I know a hooded cloak of velvet would never be the same again, but what kind of different are we talking about?

I'm looking for tricks and tips about cleaning it when I get home, and would also like to hear some experiences.

Do you know what your velvet is made of? Some velvet has to be dry cleaned, some can be washed.

Panne and stretch velvet wash well, I've had no problems with either. "Real" silk velvet? I'd be nervous.

Stick to Underground. Avoid Velveeta.

I take a cotton velvet heavy cape - gorgeous! - I scotchgard it before going(so it's good for *rain* too) and take it to the cleaners when I get home...eight years later it's still beautiful!

Wondering what Elvis is doing now?

Digging furiously six feet up.
"Everything is more wonderful when you do it with a car, don't you think?"
-girl by the fire, watching a tree moved by car bumper in the bonfire

It would be a shame if I had to resort to self-deception to preserve my faith in objective reality.

29 years - youd think he would be able to eat that much dirt.
