Don't go to Burning Man...
Piss Clear (Your local Black Rock Newspaper)
Made a very good declaration in an attempt to cull the sadly increasing population.
Once a small village - then a town - now almost a big city!
And WHAT is a city without a newspaper!
PISS CLEAR (may have) STOPPED PRINTING!
What are we doing about this!
I would be willing to spearhead an (eco-conscious) printing press.
But I'd rather someone tell me one has already started...
Because it's really hard to do...

Big deal. Yeah, it was cool, but like most burners I rarely read the rag, I was too busy DOING the things it was reporting on.
We'll be fine if there isn't a newspaper. I don't go to BM because of Piss Clear. And I always hated that name anyway.

I'd much rather you send orators to the city plazas with a megaphone, box to stand on, and the morning, daily and evening edition of the scroll, and read it to the masses.
It makes for saving trees and removes the burden of literacy from the common BRC citizen.
I think it is the step in the right direction.
You can also read submitted adds at the end and give out daily bread.

Ok first of all, I love piss clear! I read it every time I get a chance. Of course, on playa that might not be every day. I do, however, read the one's I missed when I get home.
Piss Clear isn't the only news on the playa. While the others are not as famous nor as well organized they do exist. Of course, they do no exist in the same manner that Piss Clear does since they are typically one sheet of paper as opposed to the newspaper style of Piss Clear.
If you're going to run a paper, please don't do the small letters big letters thing that Piss Clear does. I find it very distracting and hard to read (especially when I on my last borrowed brain cell).

Oddly enough
I was planning on getting a megaphone with my tax return...
It's alot more environmentally friendly than paper news...

The Black Rock Beacon (formerly the Black Rock Gazette) is a newspaper run by consumate professionals and unlike Piss Clear it's printed up right there on the Playa. Last year they even put out a special edition after Burn#1! While they may not be as wonderfully crass as Piss Clear was, they are still dedicated to bringing you the finest in Gonzo journalism! Especially if they publish some of my work this year, a tall order perhaps after I flaked out on them last year...BitterDan wrote:Ok first of all, I love piss clear! i know, they all look alike.....us rochester peeps, that is...
He's another Rochestite...i mean Rochestonian....no, rochesTARIAN!
like rastafarian without the dreadies but with twice the dope.
IN FACT....there are many Rochestarians on the Playa...
Mr. Clean Himself used to teach at R.I.T until, an "incident"...
yes, we are everywhere, and we have fully infiltrated the BMLLC organization.
our goal, is none other than COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE MAN, as well as GENESEE BEER for all....
and a particular sense of bitter irony indigenous to our little corner of hell.
IT's ALL A KODAK MOMENT, DUH!

Is this the newspaper that was printed on the green paper?
Simon I think I may have met Mr. Lam out in the deep Playa last year, unless I'm mistaken and it was some other tall asian photog...

actually, luke warm genesee cream ale is one of the MIRACULOUS wonder cures on the playa...
it is one of two ways to stay regular after 5 days of nothing but cliff bars and cheez-its.
in fact, one year, at approximately 9 am, as i joyfully exited a beautiful, clean portapottie, somewhere near 9 o'clock ( i remember this, because it indeed was one of those 'moments') that i loudly and boldly proclaimed that indeed,
"I AM REGULAR!"
and the chorus of comments from the surrounding tents and stalls, like...
"dude, riiiiight on!"
"oh, god, i wish i could crap....oh please"
"shut the fuck up, fiber boy"
"tell us your secret!"
THE ANSWER MY FRIENDS IS GENESEE CREAM ALE.
it is also very circle-of-life-buddha-mandala shit too....
ok...let me explain.
occasionally i pee off the bridge into the mighty mighty genesee river, which flows DUE NORTH,
like the nile, only browner...
upstream is the beautiful, turn of the century High Falls Brewery.
my pee gets sucked into one of the intakes, and gets made into beer again...i gives me comfort....i dont know why.
but, how cool is that?
the circle of life...
now the mandala buddha shit.
one time, the monks were here doing a 6 week sand mandala..
they then scooped it up, and marched it downtown, blew their flugelhorns and did the whole throat rapping, and dumped the sand into the river...
i didnt have the heart to tell them it would be cream ale in a matter of hours.
so there you have it...

International Delight non-dairy creamer, flavored, in the tiny tubs. Like grease through a goose.
Or Beneful, um no, Benefiber in your coffee daily. Wondrous for both runs and roadblocks. Hey, they took away a chunk of my colon, I know things.
And raisins and apricots with plenty of water.
Although Cream Ale sounds yummers too!

The pale ale is not my favorite of Sierra Nevada's product. And just on gp I'd be more impressed with someone bringing Butte Creek. but with a mother who grew up Buffalo, and an ex-boyfriend from Rochester, I'd like to try a Genny once in my life.

PBR is underrated, as far as cheap beer goes...skibear wrote:I tried a PBR last year
actually not bad for a cheap beer.
so is Tecate IMHO. I was drinking it by the gallon last year and even when they got a little warm they went down pretty easy!
I was thinking of getting a couple of these as gifts for the really hardcore beer lovers. http://www.arrogantbastard.com/doubleba ... dsmall.jpg

I do not underestimate PBR. With the rapid disappearance of non-micro-brew regional brands it is becoming my main drink. If you need something wet, bubbly, and beery it is perfect. I see no point to paying eight bucks a six-pack when I am not bothering to savor it.lonestoner916 wrote:PBR is underrated, as far as cheap beer goes...skibear wrote:I tried a PBR last year

speaking of tecate beer...
i'm looking for a way to bring beer to the playa with out brining bottles -
please name your favorite beers in cans
(i'm not looking for what is dubbed american premium beers like bud or coors)
here's my initial list which starts of course with:
GUINESS
Tecate
bodington
heiniken
being able to crush your can when you are done really helps eliminate MOOP
help me out...
