Helitack knows more then you think!
the greater good of winning a war is above the good of the individual
You are not important, but we are!

Europe wants to ban it.
And they don't want Iran possessing them as well another reason why we keep them from having reactors.

Europe wants to ban WiFi in their schools because it's "untested", when it's the exact same thing as most cordless and cell phones, just that WiFi is at a much "safer" level (I use quotes because there is no data that says cellphone are unsafe either, because of the RF). It's radio technology that's been use by man for decades and we've been bombarded by it from space for as long as we know.
Europe wants to ban it.
You're on some weird mission that has no facts to back it up. If you want to do some work that's worthwhile with actual verifiable data that few if any scientists will ever attempt to refute try dihydrogen monoxide. http://www.dhmo.org/

...yep. DHMO is very dangerous at the wrong levels.
And the only tool we have at present to protect ourselves is EDUCATION.
You need to limit your own exposure and make sure your neighbors and loved ones are aware of the risks associated with over-exposure.
I wish that there was more we could do, but the stuff is everywhere.

For a person that looks out for the welfare of others, that’s a sad statement to make for I wouldn’t have you on any RPG or any oversight agency. According to you vets are at "the same level of precedence as dogs shitting on Saddam's old palace grounds"Isotopia wrote: Believe me, with the way things are currently going in Iraq DU as an issue should take the same level of precedence as dogs shitting on Saddam's old palace grounds.
This shows how insensitive you are for the concerns of our vets. SAD, very SAD!
So bring this conversation to a low point. Now I have a license to attack with the same language. If I care to go so low.Isotopia wrote:And I guess being gainfully employed with the Radiation Protection Group at the largest linear accelerator facility on the planet discounts any observation I might have regarding your verifiably bogus claims?
Mea culpa you braying slobberdonkey.
Now get back on your meds.
I think that the posting of professional such as Dr Rokke who has first hand experience tells a much different story then those in a field of holding back information that could safe lives.

Image what the mercury in your dental fillings are doing to your body? They emit gases that are absorbed into your body. Actually ingesting mercury very little is absorbed into the body. I don’t get dental fillings containing mercury even if most dentists claim that its safe.ZaphodBurner wrote:That's a good question. When I was eleven y.o my uncle and I were landscaping at my grandparent's house and found a little '50s-era bottle of mercury.
They told me it was toxic and not to ingest any of it, but I have no idea how many hours I spent rolling it around in my palm, on the kitchen counter or my desk at school.

VDS- who do you fight for? What issues of abuses do represent on the behalf of others?
Dhmo is right up your line. Your issue to fight for and protect others.
I've checked your search on Dr Rokke and all that came up were pages supporting him. What is the exact link you are refering to?
Our country has lied and covered up so many things that I don't trust many of them. They only let you know what they what you to know and its always just enough of the lies so you can do their dirty work and make you believe that you are a patriot. It like those in religion: you’re doing it for GOD and you will be rewarded with heaven, but they are only selling you HELL!
Iran recently had a conference on the Holocaust and included only those that favor the Iranian position. Our government does the same thing by hiring those that can write the studies according to their views- it happens all the time in industry.
Come on Badger let us all in on the mystery link or will that reveal what mysterious associations you have?
Iso, since you are so learnth in the ways of the atom, what would you recommend in this scenario:
Your company is going into a enemy control bunker that has been bombed with DUs.
What would you want to wear?
An army issued fatigues (sic) and bullet proof suit or a Hazmat suit?

!
Dihydrogen monoxide is very evil indeed! Too much of it and you DIE! What makes it so dangerous is that it is odorless and colorless!! It can be found in solid, liquid and even gaseous form. And the blasted stuff is everywhere.

/CASE REPORTS/ /KIDNEY/ A small cohort of Gulf War veterans involved in friendly fire incidents where DU shells (penetrators) were used is being followed prospectively to assess the health effects from inhalation, wound contamination, and systemic absorption of retained DU metal fragments. A group of 33 soldiers was first evaluated in 1993/1994 ... They had elevated concentrations of urinary uranium, and mean urine uranium excretion was significantly higher in soldiers with retained metal fragments compared to those without fragments (4.47 vs. 0.03 ug/g creatinine). No evidence of a relationship between urine uranium and abnormal renal function could be demonstrated. In a subsequent follow-up of the same cohort, 29 of the original 33 were examined in 1997 and their results compared to 38 non-DU exposed, but Gulf War deployed soldiers. The correlation between 1994 and 1997 24-hr urinary uranium determinations was highly significant (Rsq = 0.8623) and urine uranium was again correlated with the presence of retained DU fragments. Exposed soldiers (with and without fragments) had 24-hr urinary uranium results ranging from 0.01 to 30.74 ug/g creatinine, whereas the nonexposed group's results ranged from 0.01 to 0.047 ug/g creatinine. The persistence of elevated uranium excretion suggests ongoing mobilization from a storage depot and results in chronic systemic exposure. Again, no renal abnormalities were found but neurocognitive examinations demonstrated a statistical relationship between urine uranium levels and lowered performance on computerized tests assessing performance efficiency. Elevated urinary uranium was also statistically related to a high prolactin level (> 1.6 ng/mL; p = .04). Uranium was also detected in the semen of 5 of 17 exposed veterans, but in none of 5 nonexposed veterans ... These findings ... document elevated urinary uranium excretion and small, but measurable, biochemical effects on the neuroendocrine and central nervous systems 7 yr after first exposure. /Depleted uranium/

utterly amazing......
regardless of DU rounds, wrecks, etc... there is SOMETHING that is affecting many vets returning from this little "police action"
years ago I sat at an airport and chatted with an Army EOD specialist (EOD= EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL) that had just returned from Desert Storm (part 1) and he said he was suspicious in regards to returning vets ailments and DU rounds... he felt that it was the constant handling/exposure to the rounds as well as breathing around burning wrecks that was the root cause.... this from a very well trained AND experienced at the scene trooper...
instead of beating this guy up about his sources/facts maybe you should show some concern about those vets that are suffering this mysterious ailment..
and the vets that have posted here.. maybe you should do some research and see if there is any truth to what this guy is saying instead of just saying you and your buds and kids are all ok after being there... there is no doubt that there is SOMETHING that is causing this ailment in many of our returning vets.....
yes, utterly amazing.. but then again.. many of the sarcastic posters here will scream about their freedoms and rights yet run away when our country calls....
those that have been there have paid for their rights (far too many with their limbs and/or lives...).. what the heck have you done.........
sleep well while many Americans are there doing their best to stay alive and cover their buddies backs.... maybe you should tell these vets they are full of shit about their ailments (show me your facts !!) while you are busy preparing for your next burn.. you know.. SOOO difficult because of your 1 week in the heat, wind, dust, etc, etc... they LIVE in that 24/7/365... (while being shot at...)

And now there`s talk of needing a "larger military".
Maybe bring back the draft.
More bodies to throw at the world.
...and the really sorry thing is while everyone crows about Medicare`s problems...the fucking VA has been insolvent for decades.
...so we`ll "continue" to take good care of our fighting folks just like we always have...right?
The most cogent explanation I`ve heard regarding the VA`s policies or lack thereof was back in the 1970`s:
I was in the right place, but it must have been the wrong time.
-Dr. John
Facts about Veterans
There are approximately 26 million veterans in the United States (US Census Data, 2000).
The number of veterans using the VA system has risen from 2.9 million in 1995 to 5 million in 2003 (USDVA).
In 2005, the USDVA forecasted a $2.6 billion shortfall for meeting the growing healthcare needs of US Veterans. The VA's patient to doctor ratio has grown from 335 to 1, to 531 to 1, between 2000 and September 2004.
According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics 225,000 Veterans were incarcerated as of 1998.
Substance abuse rates are higher among veterans than their non-veterans counterparts.
A recent study of inpatients at VA facilities indicates that nearly 85% have annual incomes of less than $15,000.
According to the USDVA, more than 200,000 veterans are homeless on any given night, and more than 500,000 will experience homelessness over the course of a year.
Of all homeless veterans, 76% suffer from drug, alcohol, or mental health problems (National Survey of Homeless Assistance Providers and Clients, 1999).
One in three homeless men in America is a veteran (NSHAPC, 1999).
There are more than 33,000 Homeless Veterans in the Los Angeles Metro Region on any given night (Weingart Center Study, 2004).
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder remains an ongoing challenge for veterans of all eras, and their families. The images from the current war are causing many older veterans (WWII, Korea , Vietnam ) to experience recurring PTSD symptoms from their own combat experiences.
The National Center for PTSD estimates that one of every 20 WW II veterans has suffered symptoms such as bad dreams, irritability, and flashbacks.
A Korean Researcher has claimed that as many as 30% of US Troops who fought in Korea and are still alive today may have symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (Jack Epstein, San Francisco Chronicle, “US Wars and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,â€

Giving *false* information about DU does not help the cause. I don't see people throwing electronic insults at military people, just the people who pass on or create false information. I don't see anyone saying that there was no gulf war syndrome, just that it has not been linked to something yet. Claiming that it's a fact that it is linked to something, which has not been scientifically shown, hurts people if it is ultimately incorrect.instead of beating this guy up about his sources/facts maybe you should show some concern about those vets that are suffering this mysterious ailment..
I have great respect to anyone who dedicates a chunk of their life to train and be the first line of defense for me so that I do not need to raise a gun or put myself in the line of fire. It's extremely honorable. Doing scientific studies to improve their conditions is honorable. Trying to bring to the public's attention unsupported "facts" that haven't been shown in any study is disgraceful.

"Of the 579,000 American veterans who participated in the Gulf War, some 251,000 (43 percent) had sought medical treatment from the Department of Veterans Affairs as of July 1999. Approximately 182,000 (31 percent) filed claims for compensation for medical disabilities or damage related to illness or injury. The illnesses included leukemia, lung cancer, chronic kidney and liver disorders, respiratory ailments, chronic fatigue, skin spotting and joint pain, according to the Japanese newspaper Chugoku Shimbun. A large number of the veterans’ offspring suffer from congenital defects."
here is a except from the above article that is more then what I told you in the beginning that 10% are affected the number that it will 20% is mine prediction.
When people from the armed forces make these statements, you and our gov say they're giving out false info. our gov keeps the facts from the public eye, not me! I don't do it to insult anyone, but to find out what BM vets have problems and to reveal to those that want to sign up:
Beware- they are the one lying!

Ignoratio Elenchi Apollnaris. A more contemporary description is known as a 'red herring' argument.Beware- they are the one lying!
Blind Patriotism is what destroyed Germany in WWII
It's what people like yourself resort to when they're incapable of understanding an argument that's in opposition of one's own position or they choose to ignore said argument because of an inability to refute an opposing opinion. In your case the latter of the two best suits your style with a pinch of the former tossed in for good measure.
You serve the truth around this issue no better than a rabid evangelical serves the truth in arguing against evolution or for creationism.
You're intellectually pitiable.

Dr. Jawad Al-Ali (55), director of the Oncology Center at the largest hospital in Basra, Iraq stated, at a recent ( 2003) conference in Japan:
"Two strange phenomena have come about in Basra which I have never seen before. The first is double and triple cancers in one patient. For example, leukemia and cancer of the stomach. We had one patient with 2 cancers - one in his stomach and kidney. Months later, primary cancer was developing in his other kidney--he had three different cancer types. The second is the clustering of cancer in families. We have 58 families here with more than one person affected by cancer. Dr Yasin, a general Surgeon here has two uncles, a sister and cousin affected with cancer. Dr Mazen, another specialist, has six family members suffering from cancer. My wife has nine members of her family with cancer".
"Children in particular are susceptible to DU poisoning. They have a much higher absorption rate as their blood is being used to build and nourish their bones and they have a lot of soft tissues. Bone cancer and leukemia used to be diseases affecting them the most, however, cancer of the lymph system which can develop anywhere on the body, and has rarely been seen before the age of 12 is now also common.",
"We were accused of spreading propaganda for Saddam before the war. When I have gone to do talks I have had people accuse me of being pro-Saddam. Sometimes I feel afraid to even talk. Regime people have been stealing my data and calling it their own, and using it for their own agendas. The Kuwaitis banned me from entering Kuwait - we were accused of being Saddam supporters."

Well, Apollonaris Zeus, thank you for hijacking my thread with all of your propaganda.
Just one question for you, who were you trying to convince with all of that data and information? It looks like you were only trying to convince yourself because no one else here seems to think any of your posts here hold water...

My ex, who was a musician who got sucked into electronics, used to call cadence for us as we marched to class. He sang opera in college so his voice really carried, and sounded good to boot. As sailors on an Army base, we did all we could to annoy the soldiers, and we surely couldn't march well. we made up for our lack of precision with style. Our favorite song to march to? Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven. Yes, called in cadence correctly, you can indeed march to it.

This is a cool story. If you've seen it before,,, oh well.
Top this for a speeding ticket
Two California Highway Patrol Officers were conducting speeding enforcement on I-15, just north of the Marine Corps Air Station at Miramar . One of the officers was using a hand held radar device to check speeding vehicles approaching the crest of a hill.
The officers were suddenly surprised when the radar gun began reading 300 miles per hour. The officer tempted to reset the radar gun, but it would not reset and then turned off.
Just then a deafening roar over the tree tops revealed that the radar had in fact locked on to a USMC F/A-18 Hornet which was engaged in a low flying exercise near the location.
Back at the CHP Headquarters the Patrol Captain fired off a complaint to the USMC Base Commander. The reply came back in true USMC style:
Thank you for your letter. We can now complete the file on this incident.
You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Hornet had detected the presence of and subsequently locked on to, your hostile radar equipment and automatically
sent a jamming signal back to it, which is why it shut down.
Furthermore, an Air-to-Ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also automatically locked on to your equipment location.
Fortunately, the Marine Pilot flying the Hornet recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile system alert status and was able to override the automated defense system before the missile was launched to destroy the hostile radar position.
The pilot also suggests you cover your mouths when cussing at them, since the video systems on these jets are very high tech. Sergeant Johnson, the officer holding the radar gun, should get his dentist to check his left rear molar. It appears the filling is loose. Also, the snap is broken on his holster.
Thank you for your concern. Semper Fi.

Semper Fi.

Well, it was kinda cool anyway. Maybe this is more accurate;
Is five p.m. also "Happy Hour" in the IDF?
What Time Is It?
On some air bases, the Air Force is on one side of the field
and civilian aircraft use the other side of the field, with
the control tower in the middle. One day the tower received
a call from an aircraft asking, "What time is it?"
The tower responded, "Who is calling?"
The aircraft replied, "What difference does it make?"
The tower replied, "It makes a lot of difference. If it is
an American Airlines flight, it is 3 o'clock. If it is an
Air Force plane, it is 1500 hours. If it is a Navy aircraft,
it is 6 bells. If it is an Army aircraft, the big hand is on
the 12 and the little hand is on the 3. If it is a Marine
Corps aircraft, it's Thursday afternoon and 120 minutes to
'Happy Hour.'"

I doubt the pentagon had anything to do with it.
Most likely the base supply puke in Taiwan received a DD1149 requisition from a tech weenie for a part, with a digit transposed in the 15 digit FSN.
The DD1149 was then routed thru normal supply channels. order filled and shipped to the supply puke requestor in Taiwan. It then given to the tech weenie requestor, who most likely said WTF is this, it's not a battery...and set it on the shelf, and re-ordered batteries.
A later audit caught the error.
Happens all the time
And ex supply puke - Navy SK
biggest unresolved requisition issue in the Navy...Leather flight jackets reqs never completed as received.

I still have a 5 pound bottle of mercury and my 1950's chem set, with radium and uranium ore.ZaphodBurner wrote:pinemom wrote: Ok I wonder how many of our parents played with this set or sets like it? hmmmmm! wonder if they know how many of us have that shit floating through our blood veins for our offspring?
That's a good question.
