Hey all.....just purchased my ticket for 2008 and I'm really excited. Of course it might be better if I was going with friends, but that isn't an option. I'm actually energized by the prospect of joining this community on my own. If a woman can't make a go of it solo at Burning Man, where can she?
I've been advised that Stag Camp is a good place for singletons. Any advice or heads-up would be greatly appreciated. Can't wait!

You joiners go can right ahead and cluster but I'd like to take this opportunity to point out - once again - to our dear readers/creepy lurkers that if you camp alone, it does NOT mean that you're going to be lonely or isolated. M'kay? Everyone got that? I just sense(i) so much anxiety from you kids about this.
Just set up your li'l camp, make an effort to introduce yourself to all your freaky neighbors, then go hit the volunteer desk at centercamp and go work a shift for the greeters, or ice sales, or go help on some large art installation. Get drunk, go dancing. Rinse. Repeat.
In this fashion, one can spend the entire week doing whatever the hell one wants, whenever the hell one wants to do it while being as social or as anti-social as one wants at any given time. (Yeah, that was a sentence.)
You are not alone.

but one thing...do you think virgins should be greeters?
i worked the cafe my first year...barista excellence i tell ya,...but i don't know about some one who's never been there greeting...I mean, it wouldn't piss me off or anything...also there are "greeter" jobs that don't actually vocally greet so i'll stick a sock in it.
blow.
