Hello from Wisconsin!

Post by troyds » Fri Mar 14, 2008 3:35 pm

Hi guys and gals and thinks that go "bump" in the night. I'm new to the board and thought I'd just say "howdyyyyyy!" LOL!

One of my goals for posting on the board is to find poets or people working on experimental literary projects at Burning Man.

Best,

Troy

Hey Unjonharley,

Nice to meet you!!

I'm around Black River Falls up the road a piece from Reedsbug. It was a cold winter out here this year. Really cold!!

I'm planning on working with Andy and Ed from Camp Videogasm to use the theatre area for Poetry reading and airbrushing during the day. So I'm kind of trying to network with any people that have literary interests. Some of the air brushing or human tagging will be focused on the literary arts. It's gonna be kind of fun. We just airbrushed people last year. This year we are going to write on them as well.

Just think Unjonharley, you could be a "menu." LOL!

Nice to meet you.

Hello! How's everyone doing? I have to say, Troy, that your concept sounds very interesting! It would be very exciting to participate in something like that. Are you doing that for this year's Burning Man?

I'm actually a virgin burner....kind of. I honestly haven't made it to Black Rock City yet, but I plan (and am preparing) to attend next year. Unfortunately, I just truely began researching and preparing within the past month, but it's too late for me to get a ticket. I haven't the money or the ability to get off work for this year. So I'm really excited to hear about this year's BM and to learn about next year's theme so I can begin coming up with a method of participation (possibly even coming up with an art piece!). Anyways, I hope to meet a lot of people off here and maybe finding people in Wisconsin to group with and create pieces of art with!

Steve,

Nice to meet you. My email address is [email protected]. Email me sometime in the future and I will send you some of the info, etc. that I have.

Sorry to hear that you can't make it this year.

I would be interested in hearing more about your vision for art.

Best,

Troy

Hi northernick...

Good to hear you're planning for 09 already. It took me three years of trying to make it and on the fourth year, things just fell in place perfectly. And as the time to head out got closer, it only got better. When it was clear that I was going for sure, even the simplest of planning things was terrific fun.

Life's what you make it.

Troyds,

On a literary art project note, one year... I don't remember which, I and some friends ran across a fellow dressed in a toga in deep playa. He didn't say much, but handed us a scroll from his shoulder bag and asked that we wait to read it until later. We all got back to camp and sat in a circle in our dome, taking turns reading pages of this story that he had written. It was a nice little communal experience.

UnJohn... Did I KNOW you were from Wisconsin ?!
Maybe I did. Maybe I forgot.

I knew you were cool.
But I had no idea you were THAT cool.

I was born in Hudson... I guess that makes me "nearly" a Minnesotan ... but a Wisconsinite nontheless. There's just something about growing up there that makes the whole world a better place. Maybe it's the snow.

There's a great gang in Wisconsin and in the Twin Cities, if you all (who are still in Wisconsin) are looking to meet up with people sometime.

I'm usually up for a month or so in the summer & I LOVE to meet up with my like-minded friends.

LeChatNoir,

Hey there, thanks for sharing. Sounds cool--that, and meeting another soul in the desert through writing. Good stuff. I'm working on an "American Dream" poem, whatever that means. Who knows, maybe I will end up a sage passing out scrolls.

Very good and good for you. Have a great burn,

Troy

Karine,

If you are ever up and around, you can email me at [email protected]. Always interested in new sculpture and LOVE original expression.

Best,

Troy
