Are we welcome in Stag Camp?

Been looking through the BM site and we want to know if stag camp would be right for us. We are a couple, but definately looking to meet new people for life long friendships. Even though we won't be stag we're big time virgins to all this. We don't even have that much camping experience being born and bred in an urban area. Guess we've been a little sheltered. We have always wanted to do BM and this is the year that, no matter what, it's going to happen. Have our tickets and excited about going, and would love to connect with anyone who would love to take us under their wing and show us the ropes. That is similar to a question I asked when working the door at college parties.

Are you in any way shape or form affiliated with any law enforcement agency?

Personally I believe in catch and release but this is Burning Man afterall. Minnows might not get thrown back. Gold fish swimming in beer will definitely get thrown back. Thank you! May I have another!

We had several couples in the camp, all are welcome. If you read through last years threads you'll understand that Stag didn't necessarily mean coming single, just people coming together in an instructured but cooperative environment.

the so cal community is having a burner event in april from the 18th to the 21st at our friends land in borrego springs in the desert... we all call it The Village (<---- on tribe) or the Playa Simulator if you would like to come can talk to my friend i am sure there is room for 2 more... it will be good fun.... let me know if you want to come and i will send you a link.

Where do you guys place Stag Camp anyway? How much space do you have? How many people can you accomdate? I only ask because it seems like so many people are saying that they are camping with Stag and I was just curious how you guys handle that many people. We have 30 people and it's chaotic, i can't imagine 30 walk-ins.

Last year was our first year as a camp and we had about 55 people give or take last year.... this year it looks like we have the original 55 coming back so far plus all the virgins we will be welcoming.... so maybe like 60 or 70 people this year in camp maybe a few more.... we will find a way to fit everybody... we found a way last year to fit all 55 in a decent sized space... and we will find a way again this year to fit everybody...

Last year we were at around 8:45 and Grassland ... we are hoping for the same spot again this year.

Sweet, thanks for the info. Do you guys get a pre-assigned theme camp spot or just find a good location? The reason I ask is we are hoping to get at least 100'x100' this year and I was just curious as to how many people you crammed into a camp.

We are not a registered theme camp so we do the land grab thing.
If there are a few people camping in the spot we need I think we will
just absorb them into our camp.

you have enough people and gear to sufficiently use up 10,000 square feet?

100 x 100 is a pretty large area.

630 square feet per person. This is for everything. Some people use more space like a big motor home or 5th wheel attached to truck and some people use less with a car and tent. We were relatively high density last year and this year we will be really cramming them in. We are not a theme camp in the sense that we do not provide an interactive public attraction and so we have not applied for a theme camp space. We also like to be independent and just make a go of it on our own. This also allows us to have a flexible camp size which typically is not possible with a placed camp. Flexibility is a must since we have people joining us at the last minute.

Moonshine Tavern, one of my favorite places on the Playa. I think its placement should always be within a stone's throw of the Medics tent!

A heard of staggers went there one morning (on our way to get ice)
but we were only greeted by one person and he didn't look like he was feeling to well. Kind of grumpy and hung over. We will have to come by a little later in the day I guess, (is after 5:00pm OK???)

So back in March we may have only had 35 people or so. As of last count recently it looks like closer to 75-80 people want to be a part of Stag Camp. As we're fairly informal about it - we'll just have to do a larger land grab once the gates open!

There is a Stag Camp 2.0 tribe over at tribe.net that contains much more info if anyone else is looking to join us!

OK - I went back to our "official" roll call thread at tribe and we have 37 people that are committed (or should be!) to joining us in Stag Camp. It's half of what I commented here a few days ago. I do know that there are a lot of people that are talking of joining us - and have not as of yet listed such on the roll call. I apologize for any misunderstandings!
