Post by DE FACTO » Thu Feb 12, 2004 11:43 am

Sorry folks.

I did'nt want to advertise and I'm sure that Badger and a few others are gonna talk about me like a dog.
I'm not proud about the number but I'm here and I am proud of how I got here so I'm just gonna make the best of it.

This is my thirteethn hundred post and I am as if not more shocked as anybody else.

So before anybody else makes a mockery of it, I'll do it first.

Let it be known that I hit the thirteeth hunderd post first.

Now I'm back off to answer Badgers silly questions.

Is sheer volume of posts something that I should be striving for?

Does it make me more valuable to the BM/eplaya community?

What's all this stuff about mayonaise?

It's kind of like lube for anal sex. WAY too much is just barely enough. And in the eternal debate of quality versus quantity, remember the words of Donald Trump.

So let me see if I have this right.

It's better to dijon than dijonaise
and
dijonaise than mayonaise

So huck the Hellmans, kill the Kraft, and reach for the Grey Poupon.

Officially the tally is yours. Unofficially, I still spanked your ass on post count. Sorry I couldn't resist throwing that FACT out for there. Anyway the official record is yours, enjoy the moment. And again I call on you to give us quality posts with more than one liners and smileys for your next 1300 posts.

And remember, it's only 200 days from today until BM 2004!

I see it differently. Excluding 20% TMI posts I tried to add something to the discussions. For that I have no regrets. I also tried to inspire some people with creative ideas as well as get help with my own BM related projects.

So that's why I made my statement. It's one thing to post, it's another to try and contribute to the community with positive comments, ideas and feedback, or to collect ideas and feedback.

Has anyone read a book by Kevin Phillips called "american dynasty"?

he has quite a bit to say.

he is being broadcast live on my site right now (6:42 am pst) which is bouinced from c-span. ( yeah I know....c-span....) but he will be rebroadcast today on c-span and i would suggest watching it.

again it is broadcasting on my website

http://pages.sbcglobal.net/digicastipv7/

it will be rebroadcasting on my website again later today at the same time as c-span does. so you can look up what time it will be broadcasting on the net or on c-span. http://www.c-span.org

the way the world works and is working as we think right now in real time in the real world.

P.S I will update this later.

Also....this is a good thread to do politics, religion and other nonsense to nonburningman related issues .......my contribution to eplaya. post it here.

DF, how many socks do you have now? Let's see...DVD Burner, the original digiman, and of course the original DF alias. I'm curious why you are having conversations with yourself? At least it looks like you are.

Thank you for confirming what I wondered about. Unlike some who will likely have issues with it and having run "socks" in the past; it takes some work to pull it off and I admire how well you do it.

Anyway I'll drop the issue and move on but I appreciate the honesty.

from http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=robot&r=67

Robot is a word that is both a coinage by an individual person and a borrowing. It has been in English since 1923 when the Czech writer Karel apek's play R.U.R. was translated into English and presented in London and New York. R.U.R., published in 1921, is an abbreviation of Rossum's Universal Robots; robot itself comes from Czech robota, “servitude, forced labor,” from rab, “slave.” The Slavic root behind robota is orb-, from the Indo-European root *orbh-, referring to separation from one's group or passing out of one sphere of ownership into another. This seems to be the sense that binds together its somewhat diverse group of derivatives, which includes Greek orphanos, “orphan,” Latin orbus, “orphaned,” and German Erbe, “inheritance,” in addition to the Slavic word for slave mentioned above. Czech robota is also similar to another German derivative of this root, namely Arbeit, “work” (its Middle High German form arabeit is even more like the Czech word). Arbeit may be descended from a word that meant “slave labor,” and later generalized to just “labor.”
