Did Frisco boycott the LA Olympics? Did Sparta boycott the Athens Olympics?

I think that happened after LA enslaved Bakersfield.

Or, am I thinking of something else?

Sparta didn't have to boycott Athens, because it was always held in Olympia,

but Has Frisco ever boycotted Burning Man?

They say it every year, but they always CUM!

Its easy to boycott chinese products. They are some of the worst. Take a simple water valve from china and compare that to a german or italian or even an american made valve (better make that a higher quality water valve I've seen some bad ones made with the "Made in American" label)

There is no comparison! You would need to replace them in less then a quarter of the time and you pay more then half the cost!

Going to China better take your oxygen tank:

Smokers though will have a great time- no restrictions anywhere!

Even in hospitals.

Guess thats a good way to deal with the over population.

A slow painful death

"As recently as Saturday, President Hu Jintao echoed other Chinese leaders who have accused the Dalai Lama of encouraging violence. Mr. Hu left open the door for dialogue but only if “the Dalai side stops activities splitting the motherland"

Motherland!!!

Where did we hear similar talk about a Fatherland and a nation that was building its army for world domination????

Fuck your mother and your father!!!

Fuck the Olympics, Zeus, they have no meaning in this Godless nation!!

Most tobacco deaths are a result of heart failure.
It can be early and quick.

Lung problems are fairly low risk for smokers, relative to heart failure.

Brutal repression from the men with guns is a pretty awesome obstacle to overcome. Now, if true worker solidarity emerges which is unlikely, that would be another way to shut down the machine.

10 Seconds of Fame

Post by gyre » Thu Apr 17, 2008 6:00 am

I just watched the entire Delhi run of the torch.
Shortened to 2.3 km, they were changing runners every ten seconds.
No public was allowed to attend.
It turns out the chinese protecting the torch in London and elsewhere are members of the chinese security forces.
Australia has announced they will not be part of security there.

I saw a bit on the network news about olympic sponsorship naming five major sponsors spending $268 million.
I can't find the story now, thanks to the search engines they use, but Proctor and Gamble was one and I can't find them listed anywhere.
ATT and Anheiser Busch were otheres.
Coca Cola, GE and McDonalds may be the others.
It takes at least $100 million to be an olympic partner.
3 billion euros are expected to be paid in sponsorship.
The BOA British Olympic Assoc has asked athletes to sign a loyalty oath pledging not to protest.

I thought that was supposed to be Nepalese security forces that were authorized to use deadly force (and I think they're probably only going near Everest base?)
This bit of news is especially strange in Nepal, which has so many Tibetans living there and welcomed as part of society - (Bhodanath with so many Tibetan ex-pats etc.)

Tainted medicine from china:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/22/healt ... ref=slogin

"The dispute is a sign of growing tensions between China and the United States over the safety of Chinese imports. China has in recent years exported poisonous toothpaste, lead-painted toys, toxic pet food, tainted fish and now, contaminated medicine"

I'm just avoiding all thing chinese.

Being poisoned by ingesting things, it the highest chance of death. The rate is many times more then being killed in a car accident!
I might be green, but I can burn brite with the help of my playa friends!

Whenever you advise a ruler in the way of Tao, counsel him not to use force to conquer the universe. For this would only cause resistance. Thorn bushes spring up wherever the army has passed. Lean years follow in the wake of war. Just do what needs to be done. Never take advantage of power…Force is followed by loss of strength. This is not the way of Tao. That which goes against the Tao comes to an early end. (verse 30. tr. Gia Fu Feng)
Unfortunately, the ruling elite right now are more interested in Confucianist thought apparently.

I'm SO with you on this one, for Tibet and otherwise, but it'll be hard to do considering they're choosing which athletes go on to the U.S. Track Team in my town.

I'm dealing with that by throwing myself into the NW Andalusian regionals and going to the LiveSTRONG Challenge in Beaverton on the trials' opening weekend.

The reason I say it's going to be difficult is because Eugene needs the money the Trials will bring, desperately. Our local economy just did a tailspin when Monaco Coaches laid off hundreds of employees last week. There's a lot of hungry people here, which presents us with a quandary: do we stay away from the Track Team Trials? Do we snub 'em when those thousands of athletes, press and fans offer us their money? Where is the line drawn?

So they climbed Everest with the torch. Notice that they had a back-up in case everyone died.

What's the highest point in BRC?

Early freaking climbing season.
I wonder if they had a pr plan in case the group was lost?

I hear there will be hundreds of tents on the icefall this year.
Quite a crowd.
