DF:
I'm not going to totally step into a free fire zone as I have bigger battles underway. But some of the observations raised echo my concerns. Now you know as well as anyone that I am right there with you on post count. I know what I'm talking about. I became a little concerned with the one liners, the single smileys and the like and I found it annoying.

This could keep going on and on, and you have the right to do things your own way. But this is a community and it's not a sign of weakness to compromise. Several people have asked you to change your posting style. Is this too much to ask? I don't know you but my bet is you have a lot more to offer in posts besides one liners and smiley faces. I would like to see more flashes of creativity, more interesting fare like I get on the dioxine list.

Instead of dragging this mud slinging festival of madness onward, why not step back and think about this? Give us content, quality not quantity. It's going to take time but before you know it this will all be in the past. This jaded group of "clubbers" does have an open mind and they do give second chances. But you have to earn it.

Again do what you will but you have to admit this board is a shell of it's former self. Like it or not you have been identified as one of the forces driving some people away. Can a compromise be worked out so you change your posting style, then we can get these gripes out of the way and get focused on deeper issues?

Thanks for letting me rant, it's been a difficult week before I ran into this.

No. No, it's not about misunderstanding anything. There's NOTHING to misunderstand about the questions as they've been put forth. Inability to comprehend is not a get out of jail card either.

Making it any simpler for you would require handing over a box of crayons so you can draw us pictures.

You know what's being asked.

Answer the questions please.

I found this when I hit the wrong link earlier. I found this very interesting and thought it was worthy of a repost. It seems to speak for itself, especially the last 2 paragraphs or so:
ecliptic wrote:I was just graced with a pm from De Facto. I don't know this guy, but apparently he's still looking for attention. So I decided to give it to him. I suspect I'm not the only one this went to. You be the judge. Here it is in it's entirety:

It's kinda too bad you are not one of the original BM inner circle creators.
Accusatetors was not what the original philosophy of what BM was all about. (at least when I was attending)
I will stay off the message board for 2 weeks just to make you and your minority club look rather meak. I am not WSPR nor am I lacking in the insidiously ridiculous copulas and fatuous ways of you and your comates.

Soon you will see the blunders of your ways. (That is what I look forward to as always.)
I am not one that flaunts my intelligence in ways that are frivolous or there in the lacking. (an east coast thing.)

I would prefer that the assumtions were to be expostulate so that we can come to the conclusion that we are not at each others throats but looking to become a state of tranquillity with what each other has to say. (if you do not understand, that means over a beer sometime.)

I prefer that I be allowed to speak frankly, no assumtions be spawned.

My name as you know is Tony Thompson, hence the acronym DFTT (DE FACTO Tony Thompson, yes I got that), however it is not going to further your status by spoofing my presence on this message board i,e; Eplaya.

Please take note, everything that you folks post on this and other message boards are in the public domain hence they are documentented.

Any mistakes or misstatements you make will be ripe for the pickings. So, if you choose to confuse me with WSPR and others that have oppositioning points of views, I can guarantee you I will hop on the opportunity like a game of chess and leave you to hang dry. (again, I am not WSPR and do not agree with them.)

I will be posting this PM on the Eplaya message board as is.

Hope you dont mind.

(is that better instead of using the smilie?)

Hey I'm really sorry I made some heads explode forcing some to think beyond their means. I guess I can try not to use the smilies.
:P :P :P :P :P

Give it a break. Matrox (the graphics card company) and several prominent companies and communities use PHPbbs..... with the smilies with no problems. Hey even Dr. LRB uses smilies (and he's quite good at them IMHO.). I think some of these peeps with poles up the butts need to let their hair down, loosen the bras and untwist their panties and just get over it. They can go in thier profiles and set their smiles to no. (dont know if spanky has it set up that way yet but I know it can be done because I've done it with my version on my site and it works.)

It is a fact. no matter what I or anyone that is not to "club 5's" liking,
they will still complain. it's in their nature to do so and as you know as I do, from reading dioxine for months now and never posting for almost as long, they bitch and moan and whine at each other 24/7 and enjoy technology from the stone age. Eplaya in it's present form is progressive. The same can not be said about "Club 5".

But hey you're right and so is madmatt. "club 5" is the community. I just have a hard time caving in to those types that feel that they are the only things that can be in/hip/cool, "do as I say not as I do" anti scocialites that complain all the time about how they dont like the layout of the board or dont like DE FACTO or this person or that person and lets talk bad about this thing or that without a positive response or conclusion/solution to the problem, kind of people.

Plain and simple.

As far as mudslinging goes, hey, All I've been doing is responding to the nasty repulsive statements they make.

As far as earning anything, They have yet to prove to me that they are open minded in anyway shape or form. I dont need to prove anything to them and they nothing to me. There are plenty of peeps on this board that have my total respect (so not to confuse "club 5" I mean people on this board I totally respect.) These "club 5ers" will never like me and I'm good with that.

Again do what you will but you have to admit this board is a shell of it's former self. Like it or not you have been identified as one of the forces driving some people away.

Well hey. The newbies are more awsome and more fun.
maybe it's time for "club 5" to move on. I know that as time moves on (as in later today) they will see that they are not the only ones on this board. more positive people will join and come back in "club 5's " absence. and would love to come back once "club 5 " is gone. but that's not up to me.

Can a compromise be worked out so you change your posting style, then we can get these gripes out of the way and get focused on deeper issues?

I have compromised. I can change to any posting style as has been proven before on this board but it's not going to make "club 5" happy.
they are naturally unhappy people that like making other people unhappy.
It's up to them to compromise.

Hey even Dr. LRB uses smilies.

But Mr. Smith elevates it to almost an art form because he moves beyond mere consistency into occasional smirking wit with their use, sir. He provides the vivid exception to an otherwise pedestrian practice which is a symptom, in my opinion, of a lack of the referred to wit.
I often heard the sorrel nag (who always loved me) crying out, ..."Take care of thyself, gentle Yahoo."

I totally agree.

I can never be as good at it as he, nor will I ever try.

Hey,
so what about the smilies.
It's part of my less than suttle charm.
Occasionally I get a good one in there, but all this trouble over a darn pic?

Let's get real.

they can go suck on a pasifier. I'm not trying to create any harm, and that's just the way "Club 5" are trying to make it out to be.

They dont like it they can come up with a programming solution like I did.

1. Posting only emoticons as a response
2. Posting multiple responses to yourself (i.e. posting several consecutive times without allowing anyone else to post).
3. Posting nonsense or jibberish.
4. Posting single word or incomplete sentences or thoughts as responses.
Not just emoticons. Hell, keep using them. But keep in mind that you are the top poster. Keep doing everthing that is so you, just divide by some power of 10.

Again Spokes I agree. However if you note, I would not have a high post count if "club 5" had'nt attacked in such a way that i should be forced to respond. Try having only one persone attack every once in awhile and it's ok. 5-7 nasty ones at a time and what???? I'm not supposed to respond while they get away with a lame attempt at creating a lie that sticks?

I dont think so.

another case and point.

someone from "club 5" stated as a fact that I had posted only to delete my post.
I DON'T DO THAT. and even when I do I let it be known that I've done so. This "club 5 er" (and we need not mention names jest not to provoke any flames.) has been consistent in doing so. I don't let nonsense like that go by, even though I have in the past. not anymore.

"club 5's" attacks on frivolous things need to stop so that the atmosphere can be cordial.

I bet no one is gonna respond to these current posts.

Anything to prevent admitting that DE FACTO is any bit of an ounce correct.

Gibberish I say. I just speak only gibberish.

(that's a quote/paraphrase somewhere from someone on this board that most look to as being oh so awsome. a shaded man)

I know I should have let this one go but I could'nt and this will be the last one for awhile.

I'm sure this quote is out of context but I cannot find where you got this from Chai Guy. Being the type of teacher that I think you are (a very good one I assume. bad of me if I'm wrong.) you should know better than to do something like this without some kind of cliff note .

Where did you get this quote from and please include the link.

we dont have to have this as a post in the thread, PM me if you like.

And I'm not going to answer any more questions from Badger as posts. I want to save bandwidth on the threads and keep it twords entertainment purposes and serious debate only from now on.

Pfffft. You're not answering because you see it as the best way of saving your ass/face from having to personally account for your transgressions.

No one's fooled by your evasive mutterings suggesting otherwise.

i have to admit that i do like the responses, albeit evasive, in full paragraphs. i think sharing entire ideas contributes more to the tone and texture of the eplaya than hastily written four-one-syllable-words-and-a-smiley posts that (to me) clutter the place up unnecessarily.

keep it up!

Agreed! - Right now you are averaging 10.32 posts per day, is there any way we can get that average down to say 5 posts per day? That, along with eliminating the smilie only posts, the one word responses, and the other nonsense would go a long way to earning back some respect around here.

I have to confess I'm mystified by that emoticon moving its lips in some sort of Mr. Ed/Francis the Talking Mule irritated by a something on it's upper gum way. This is an emotion? It looks like sheepish discomfort.
