Pleasure Garden

Post by Glenn Young » Tue May 13, 2008 8:42 pm

We started as The Sprawl in 2006 and have developed into the Pleasure Garden!! Our goal is to provide the Burning Man community with a little slice of paradise on the playa devoted to relaxation and exploration of the pleasures of the senses.

Our main contribution to the community was and will be our Sunscreen Station. Last year we were a big success in slathering up countless citizens of Black Rock City. It seems that a lot of people just didn't think they needed to bring sunscreen with them while out walking around. Others just found it too enticing to pass up a free "touch-up" to their earlier application. Of course the fun and welcoming atmospere and free ice cold lemonade was certainly a refreshing boost to the weary travelers ambling past.

If don't have esplanade placement and want it, join Snowflake Village. Here's their info...

Snowflake Village is one of the oldest and stablest Villages on the Playa, looking for INTERESTING PEOPLE AND THEME CAMPS for 2008.

We are a confederation mostly of Midwestern, Canadian, and Overseas theme camps and people. No drama, no Village fees. Typically, a great location on the esplanade. We can put a larger camp on our front line, smaller camps on our Internal Road, and we have an overflow section too for smaller groups. By putting our many samller camps and displays side-by-side, we create an intense, interactive, one-on-one atmosphere.

Please, no loud sound camps, and we don't camp near them.

Website at www.clevian.com/snowflake2008, but if you have never camped with snowflake before, start by contacting the coordinator, Eric G, at [email protected].

New location

After much consideration I have decided to place the Pleasure Garden in the Snowflake Village camp. Nothing else will change with our group or structures.

I think this will be able to place our Sunscreen Station in an even more needed and necessary position right on or near the Esplanade.

It's a lot more fun than it sounds.
Some times it's rushrush, but a lot of people treat it like a massage.
It made me realize how much I miss doing massage out there.
A brilliant idea.

It was a LOT of fun!!! Many people walked in and said they forgot their suncreen or needed a touch-up. Met a ton of people and even rescued a damsel in distress. It was a blast and I'm looking forward to more again this year.

If you gonna put it on esplanade as a "salvation station", ya better bring GALLONS.
We have an obligation to make space for everyone, we have no obligation to make that space pleasant.

I'll have to check and see how much we went through last year. The spray sunscreen was a big hit!
