I need to cleanup the birdbath, it was frozen solid Friday morning, but there was a bluejay in it today. We only have one feeder, I hesitate to bring in too many birds, the neighbor's cats are hunters. There were three quail in the backyard this afternoon, I've never seen any this far down from the foothills. My brother lives six or seven blocks east of me, he has squirrels, I don't. We do get raccoons now and then, but almost every house has a dog in the yard, or cats. The magpies are nesting in the tree across the street, I like them!

Cool, AA. There's been a moose on campus and that's close. And a LOT of dead deer. Mostly mulies, which are fair-sized.
I've just read my posts in various places today, I shouldn't post when I'm taking benadryl. I had a nasty rash from grass ... tried weeding again, and while I can beat the snuffles, I forgot that sometimes I break out. %$#@%$#@^!!!! Anyway, I think I sounded like a drooling fool. Probably just to myself, but there ya go.

I haven't read much of your posts but they all seemed fine to me.
We get deer sometimes, possums, billions of squirrels, but stray dogs and cats rarely. When cats show up, I trap them and have the humane society pick up or cat rescue. Been a while though. About 3 yrs ago we had a pregnant cat and FOUR other adults dumped here. We didn't catch the mom and kittens til they were about 8 wks old but I found homes for most and a cat rescue took the last one. Friend took the mom and 2 of the others. I hated for the shelter to take the other 2 adults, but you can't save them all. So my birds stay unharmed. Canton has a strict leash law and even cats must stay on your own property or be picked up.
About 10 miles from here they get a lot of chipmunks but I have never seen one here.
ps... I fed the damned things especially the mom and kittens til we caught them.

Cats are supposed to stay home here, but it doesn't happen. My neighbor has three who prefer the outdoors and they like my yard because I don't have yard dogs. Two of them are uber-friendly but they only stay out during the day; one stays out as long as it isn't freezing. That's Maynard, big tuxedo cat and a poor hunter. Baby is sweet, but she's quick. Mr. Christopher always wants to come in, but I won't let him, my cats would beat him up, he's tiny. She has three other indoor cats; they come out to sun once a week or so. She used to do cat rescue and had a permit from the city letting her keep more cats than allowed; she hand raised my Siamese. So I don't mind if her cats spend a little time in my yard. Her husband has a Golden Retriever; he leaves the cats alone but they don't like to hang with him.
I see other neighbor cats now and then, and a few from a block over, but not in my back yard.
