Post by goneguy » Wed May 21, 2008 3:30 pm

Yep, total n00b...I mean virgin here. Will be driving in from MA. Have been reading posts for 2 weeks now. I see no info on when we are required to evacuate the playa. Can we linger? Can we dally? Please tell me more
We all have to go through what we gotta go through to get to where we are going.

You can get a permit and camp at pyramid lake afterwards.
You can also move to the playa outside the burning man area.
I'm not sure if permits are needed.

If you linger, you will probably be asked to help clean up. You seem like a nice guy, you will probably want to help.

yes, what Dougly says.....i absolutely promise you that if you love the playa, it will love you back.....the Clean-up is rewarding beyond your wildest dreams, mostly in the form of free drugs, which are scattered liberally amongst the moop you will be de-moopifying.

the people you'll meet during the clean-up are the nicest, coolest, totally unstable folks you have ever met, and the true essence of burningman will get into your pores.....literally....into every crevice you own....

as a first timer, by that point you will either want to never see dust again, or you'll be signing on for a 4 year stint with the dpw, either way, immersion in the LEAVE NO TRACE ethos is crucial to a complete BM experience...

Now go, and start dreaming of cleaning that great big emptiness you will soon call home.

BLM desnt start pushing until at least tuesday or wednesday after the event. Permit requires people to leave, but realisticly there are still 5-6000 people Wednesday morning on PLaya

No shit  !? We've always left on Monday morning, and sometimes on Sunday. My vacation is paid through Friday. Do you think if we disguised our camp as a big oak tree and some rocks that they'd notice? :D

That would be cool -

All you need to do is walk around with an 8 foot 2x4 in your hands, or a hammer, and a disgusted look like your the only one in your camp cleaning up.
