Would it be possible to make the Party a "No Media Zone" and enforce it like Gigsville does for the Canadian Beaver Eating Contest? They do a wonderful job of keeping recording devices away and it seems to add a lot to the overall event. I know that my wife is much happier in a no media zone during that contest.....

I want to hear more on CBE contest, sounds very intimidating...2me, but i feel that tingle again....
as for the NO MEDIA ZONE...
Media free as possible tho i think it would be easier to controll it within the party than out on the ride.

I didn't know about the party but next year I would be honored to be a naked servant boy, washing female playa feet, serving food, fanning people. I think the party sounds like it is a way to expand typical gender roles and ideas.

(This being a serious topic, I'll speak in first person for once...).

I think I speak for all the men and women who actually deserve to be at the party when I say that if you feel threatend by anyone at the party, tell someone, whether that someone be a fellow partier, a serving slave, or a ranger, and we will see to it that the individual will be removed from the premises. (FORCEABLY removed, if they happen to mess with anyone in the presence of a certain overweight twenty-three year old brown-haired man with glasses and NO sense of humour about sexual harrassment. [i.e., ME]).

And I think I speak for all the subhuman jerks who come to CT for the same reason they come to BRC when I say: 'Heh, heh, heh. Boobs. Heh. Heh.' (Let's face it. We're dealing with a group of 'people' [I use that term very loosely] who have an IQ slightly lower than the length of their penises...).

There were female Rangers at the party...

but they were very very busy and may not have seen the situation... I didn't see it happening either but there were 500 (at least) Womyn there and in MY Opinion it was the BEST CT party I've attended, this was my 6th.... I'm lookin forward to next year

I have a suggestion: ask a few female rangers to attend next year's party to resolve any problems that might arise during the party.

Great idea. This WILL be considered and included in the Ranger training for 2004.

Thanks much for the input.

BTW, suggestions are welcome if you have input/ideas on how this might be done in a way that doesn' come off like Rangers 'guarding' or 'protecting' CT participants. Can't think of anything more disempowering than to have the perception that the women of CT need guardians.

Just a thought.

Greetings!

Captain Erotica here again...CT Party Crew...

The amazing saga of the exponential growth of
- the number of women who do the ride and hence attend the party
- the popularity and knowledge of the event among BRC Males
- the camp which created the ride and party

is quite a long and amazing tale.

A few key data points for all interested parties-

-The party this year was put on by a camp of 90 people, about half of whom were new to our camp this year...
-The camp has not ever had anything close to approaching a "closed perimeter" and thus control of who enters.
-We have only in the last 3 years have tried to organize the party to any degree in response to it's growth
-The party has doubled in size annually

- We are so grateful for being able to provide this experience for the women of BRC and we are working very diligently to grow our skill in tandem with the growth of the event.

This party has grown from a celebration of female unity and freedom of expression to include the additonal energies of support, love and service from a select group of hand picked males. The theme of the party has become: Women celebrate and any Men who are present are in service to the Women’s celebration.

Communicating that theme is taking some time. The task of absorbing all interested males who are even On the Page and know what the event is about is a daunting one. There is also the task of processing all the clueless and/or either well-meaning types(hey look at THAT PARTY let's check it out) through Perverted Asswipetype (Ah ha...have to have the camera charged in time for the CT party...) of male.

This past year we created a new system for the party. The rule is simple:
All males present must be in service either at a service station or clearly in the DESIRED company of a Female Guest.

We implemented a few new concepts that were successful especially in the first two hours of the party.

-1 a Clearly visible volunteer station with sign which served as a place for the bouncers to direct unwanted males toward for easy exiting...
-2 a discreet, non-violent group of LARGE Males who, after an incredible on the spot training from the amazing god "F" from Mystic Beat Lounge, did a fantastic job of approaching any itinerant men and asking the magic question - "Excuse me sir, this party is for women only, I have to ask you to leave, unless of course you would like to volunteer?" - Said male was then shown directly to a station that needed help OR to the volunteerstation which was really the BACK DOOR =)

This year we had an unprecedented 13 service stations at the party.
Between, serving drinks, fruit, food and the 13 stations, we employed over 200 men in service of up to 700 women who were at the party over the 4+ hours it lasted.

What did we learn about this years party:

#1- The longer it goes on: Three things happen that change the vibe a lot
- The men in service lose steam after 2 or so hours and there are less of them fending off
- The men who come and lurk because
- After 2 or more hours there are many drunk women who are easier to spy on, photo, film, grope, hit on or dance poorly with...

#2 - It is very difficult to control the men when they have no clue about the given circumstances of the party - how are they to know they are not welcome...sure it looks at first like all girls but there is a dude and there is another dude so why not ME>?

#3-There needs to be a system for men who are pre-qualified to be able to be set apart from those who have just wandered up...that way we know every male who is has a job or leaves- Armbands, hats etc..something so you know a male is in service already

Some key ideas that are going to be in place next year:

-Better PRE-Communication to the Males of BRC using e-playa, the playaguide and the newspaper and word of mouth

- Better signage around the outer perimeter for men to see this party is not for them

-A better balance between alcoholic and non-alcoholic “energy” type drinks

-We are now in contact with The Rangers via several nodes including the posting prior to this one. One concept is to have a Ranger Station just like the other service stations and lady rangers can rotate through being at the station. That way, any major pests who try to create hassle can be brought over to the Ranger Station for a stern talking to, or a spanking, or whatever prior to ejection. After all, this camp is our home and any rude guest will be asked to leave...Just imagine if we took 5 men caught with cameras, put them on an RV and asked the ladies to offer up their vocal opinon of the males...either way, the concept is to have the PRESENCE of Rangers in service so that they are available rather than having them patroll in a way that the women seem like they need constant protection...
a resource as opposed to THE SOLUTION

Another idea is to have the ranger women paint their ranger symbols on their breasts and party like everyone else to a degree but to be instrumental in spreading empowerment...which is the key to the success of this venture...

If every woman at the party called upon her sisters around her to help deal with ANY Man who acts out of line...Just imagine what a group of 10 or 20 of you would look like gently surrounding an unwanted dude and herding him out the nearest entrance....that is a personal dream of mine fyi...

- We will be doing something more to educate the women at the party, either with a large message at the entrance along with better overall signage and perhaps even an announcement or two to keep the empowerment present - that means that women will KNOW that any male near her can be called to serve...as a dance partner, escort, chair, waiter, whatever.... Ladies YOU are in charge of the boys at this party...we will also have a large map of the service stations so the women know their options upon arrival...

--we have already put the word out to the BRC community via this post about desiring suggestions for new service stations or expansions of existing service stations... this is going to help us pre-select most of the volunteer men at the service stations, thus ensuring an ever more genuine group of men in service to the goddess

Whew GIANT posting on my part. I wanted to get the word out to people about what has come from the fantastic feedback we have gotten. Thanks to all for their time and thoughts!

Everyone can rest assured that our camp is invested in improving this party... Well hell it is only November still so let me speak for me.... I, Captain Erotica, am very invested in making sure this party improves, especially in the department of eliminating the UNWANTED male energy at the party...and channeling the WANTED male energy in service of the Goddesses who are our guests for that magical few hours...

It is so so so rare that there is any MASS display of male energy in service to female energy. We have created sacred space...it can only get better and better...

This is probably not an option. It'd be likely that several women (hate that word 'lady) Rangers would be asked to be present during the event and make the occasional rounds during a shift. Another option would be to ask off-shift Rangers to either stop by or - if they choose - stick around for the duration. Having a dedicated, staffed outpost specifically for a single event tasks the number of Rangers available to serve the needs of the entire city. Remember that yours isn't the only event taking place.

That way, any major pests who try to create hassle can be brought over to the Ranger Station for a stern talking to, or a spanking, or whatever prior to ejection.

Again, totin some yahoo over to a Ranger outpost to have them dressed down because of Neanderthal behavior isn't our role and, I think, runs counter to the idea that women should be able to engage (or challenge) such fucked behaviors.

Again, this isn't an option. One of the few things that we mandate of all Rangers is that when on duty they not be nude or suggestive (for lack of a better term) in their dress and appearance. That's not to say that women Rangers not on duty and not in khaki wouldn't be able to be present with their myriad skills to help deal with any ugly situations.

Understand that this post isn't meant to shoot down a few of your very good, very positive ideas - especially after I requested more input - it's just that there are some things we just can't do. Still, the way I see it there's close to nine months to work together to help make the event a positive one and we're available to help everyone involved to make this event even better than in past years.

We will surely be in discussion with the best and most acceptable method of having the rangers help the event be a sucess...

Hopefully there is such a groundswell of understanding and communication that there is not even much need for a ranger presence.
Thus the female, decidely UnLadylike ;o), rangers can party and be worshiped, pampered, adored and loved like the rest of the Goddesses at the party!

A suggestion and I think all it would take is a couple of tables, markers, string, paste and paper. Oh, and a big sign or two.
The sign would say something like
ALL MALES MUST BE TAGGED
IF YOU ARE MALE AND NOT TAGGED, GO AWAY
If a woman wants to bring in her SO or whatever, she makes a tag that goes around the guy's neck that states "I belong to X", she would be reminded that when she leaves she should recover her tag take it with her or destroy it.
Servers could make their own tags (and decorate them as desired) and those tags would say "I belong to all Women" or something to that effect.
The tables could be staffed by your LARGE Men (LM) who would also stroll through the crowd informing the un-tagged to read the signs, get tagged or get out. Your LM's would wear a server's tag and also wear painter's hats (white and cheap). Let it be known that if a woman has a problem that she cannot or does not want to handle on her own all she has to do is look for a white hat.
Female rangers could also do the white hat bit.

b) this whole thing has a failry sexist smell to it. i understand about empowerment, and reclaimiing personal rights. but this is developing a taint of more than that...

Every now and again I get in trouble for being 'ist' insensitive. What did I do this time?

Here is the logic:
Goal 1 keep the droolers out.
Goal 2 allow select men in, call them guests if you want, and allow easy identification of non-guests.
The tag identifies your guests and and the sign lets everyone know up front that non-guests are not welcome. The white hats help identify the guests and while the sign will get rid of the majority of passersby some people have trouble with 'go the fuck away'.
Problem solved.

I took the titles for the tags from context in the previous posts. The term server was used over and over again. The 'I belong to' was to remind women that brought men in that they were responsible for them and to remind the men that they were defacto representing the woman that got them in. The sign and the tag combo keeps random guys, not just droolers from wandering in on what seemed to me to be a more-or-less private party (invitees = women who rode in Critical Tits).

Oh, and by the way, the only position I really would fit in here is LARGE MAN at 194 cm and 104 kilos. I don't know about empowerment but will say that women feeling comfortable and safe while nude or close to it generally improves my view from the shade shelter.

Hi Captain E,
This goes with what you said. The organizers did an incredible job. Still, there's always room for more work. In the beginning the party was awesome. The later it got, the more icky, drunk, and dumb, guys came in. The service station training is great! The women rangers (or even men rangers who are trained) would be great.

My main suggestions are:
- Every guy should have to wear a big badge or button that he got from the training. Maybe it says "Here to serve women". The badges are big and a bright color. Men without a badge are asked to leave or go to training.
- Yet more and bigger signs. "No men without a badge." "Volunteer stations here". "No cameras inside the party".
- Make the boundaries of the party a bit more closed off. Also make the party area bigger to accommodate all the people.
- Drunk guys seemed to be a big problem. Maybe only allow sober guys to volunteer.
- Yet more bouncers
- Give lots of women tasers and encourage em to use them.

I'd missed that Silver had already suggested tagging. Somebody called this sexist. Sure it's sexist. I still think it's worth it anyhow since guys are 99% of the problem.

I have no problem being tagged.

Also, I think it might be a good idea to conduct the training the morning of or the day before the critical tits ride, and pass out the wrist bands or whatever tagging device is decided upon then. I think that by doing so you would hopefully reduce the amount of guys following the female riders and possibly have less yahoos show up claiming to want to help. Just a thought.

There are plenty of zones and events at burning man which enforce limited behavior to allow for the focus and topic of their theme camp to exist without the anything-goes spirit of the open playa or camps who do not wish to limit their visitors in any way...

However for the same reason as say the Temple of Atonement screens people at the door to allow their scene to function...The Party we create for women to be honored and celebrated has certain needs for it to function. In order to do that, we have worked with balancing the growth of the event with the methods of creating the atmosphere that is the events purpose. If 1000 people desended on ToE imagine what they would have to do to preserve their most excellent vibe?

Any activity at burning man which wants to create a certain expereience must mitigate the environmental and community factors in order to create that experience. Due to the heat, Antartica could not happen without the walls of the fridge...Should they let people with flamethrowers into the place just cuz it is burning man? As citizens of BRC we especially walk the fine line of balance with our freedom and the impact it has on where and how we express it.

The fact remains: CT is a party FOR Women - Men are only present to serve or as guests of the women.

Clearly the intent of the party is not anti-male or sexist. For men it is rather an oportunity to celebrate women as they lavish and serve them. Those males who are proactive, lucky and bring the right vibe are going to have an amazing experience. Those who come to be drunk and hit on or photograph women w/o consent are not welcome and we will continue to try to work with that issue in a peaceful and low-key way

The ideas posted thus far in this thread are most excellent and really apreciated. They will be considered by our whole camp at large over the coming year so please keep them coming.

Lastly I will say that the event is only made possible through the efforts of volunteers. Many ideas being posted here have been brought up during our camp meetings and not been implemented due to scale, budget, initiative etc...Any ideas that are posted are welcome to be followed up with by ACTION - Anyone volunteering to run a fundraiser to pay for the male volunteer tags etc? That is a SURE way to end up volunteering=)

We have and will continue to walk the delicate path between maintaining the envioronment we seek to create at our event and not impacting the environment ourselves in our attempts to maintain it.

This reminds me of a story, I was at the TOA a few years ago when 2 younger (college age, looked like models for the GAP) approached the door and started to walk in, but were stopped by a woman at the door. The door person asked "May I help you?" to which the one of the girls with boyfriend in tow responded "Ummm... We just wanna, like , come in and um... make out and stuff". and the door person responded "Oh, sweetie! This isn't where people come to make out, this is where people come to get whipped!, would you like to?" and the poor girl just sank and shyly walked away.

I think this amounts to the same thing as burning or damaging someone else’s art. Isn't one of the basic rules that you can only burn your own art? Interfering with someone’s performance art amounts to the same thing. Many things come back year after year at black rock, and many are waited for by lots of people. Trying to hijack the critical tits parade most likely means they couldn't think of any art to do them selves or they are jealous of the attention the parade gets, its not just because it’s a repeat event.

Think of your own art! or if you really want to something for the women do it in addition to the Critical tits events give Black Rock a choice but do not interfere with someone else’s art presentation.
