Oh fuck...here we go....

I like to storm chase...and have for years. I prefer driving 200 miles away from home to do so...but I don't like it when the Storm Prediction Center guys in Norman, Oklahoma say the words "regional outbreak" and they draw the bullseye for the day right over top of where I'm currently living...

Part of me is like cool, with gas at $4 I won't go broke chasing anything, yet that little voice in the back of my mind is saying this year has been on track to set an all time tornado record....and I'm thinking holy shit...here we go!

Let's hope the forecasters get it all wrong or else this is going to be another fucking miserable day for a lot of good people.

If anyone else is interested in weather like this and wants to see a bit more than the standard National Weather Service radar screen I would suggest visiting www.wunderground.com (Weather Underground), click on their Nexrad Radar link and then click on Nebraska....here's a direct link that should work.

(If you click on the Experimental Bar on the left side of the radar image you get special radar options. VIL- Vertical Integrated Liquid mode is a great tool to track with. When hail gets to golfball sized and up it makes this mode bloom with color...and it's usually a damn good precursor that things could get ugly.

4 years and 1 week ago today a storm got started just 6 miles from where I currently live that turned into what's called the Hallam, NE tornado....that storm is considered the widest tornado documented in North America at 2.5 miles wide. Yes, funny things happen out here...and they like to start right where I'm at.

Fuck, I was outside painting a big-ass photo op board of Ganesh (the kind you stick your face through) and I was sitting on my fucking rolling garden seat thing which I normally only use on the grass or dirt and I got up a little to paint the trunk and when I sat back down the fucker rolled right out from under me. which means I landed on the tailbone part of my back and it already hurts and I know this is BAD and I managed to fucking tear my thumbnail down to the fucking quick on the fucking hand I fucking paint with. and the fucking event fucking starts tomorrow so I have to go out there and fucking get the yellow and pink and green blocked in at the very least. Fuck. I'm just fucking whining, but some days that's what you fucking do. Fuck.

This is one fucked up night I won't soon forget....14 miles due South of us per the scanner right now there is a massive wedge tornado being tracked by sheriffs deputies and the Nebraska Highway Patrol....earlier we had an absolutely massive supercell thunderstorm track over 100 miles along I-80 blowing over semis, a freight train, and knocking out high voltage power lines....don't be surprised if everyone sees the storm coverage in the news in the morning...it sounds like Kearney, NE got slammed.

We're lucky...we had wedge tornadoes less than 20 miles away on each side of us. Anyway back to tracking....we still have family in the path of the monster storm to the South...
