Heheheh dontcha love a zero clearance fit! I have mill tooling at work that to get the wheel off the arbor I have to heat it with a hair dryer...and warm it up on a hot plate before putting it back on. Wait till next year and you have to realign something on that playa-caked corroded shaft...yeah my talltrike shafts really gave me fits recently but the gears got changed : )
Tiahaar, you up for any races this year? Be good to see you down the street from me in JUly.

Living in Salem sucks.. My reemer is 3/4.. Do you think Salem could have one "even" 1/122 over.. Mlk Wi. would be th only place I know for that..

If it were just to twiek then a hot plate and fire extingher would do the trick..

The playa dust loves bare metal, don't it?

Unjon, I feel your pain... had a similar situation a while back and I thought I was never going to get that shaft filed down just that last 0.0005". Mill Bastard, indeed.

ETA: For anyone who might not know, if youcan get cold rolled round stock at your local supplier, it is usually just a bit under nominal and slides right into bearings and collars easily. Just get the swell off the end first.

Screw that shaft..I have a band saw.. It's a one trick pony.. I'm going to be able to part out this years ride for a bunch on my money back.. 09's ride is on the drawing board.. Say "steam please"..

Any mill supplies in this town, have to come ordered and UPS.. I have to take what I can get and work with it.. Guess it's just part of being a Burner/Punk

I was looking at the older television designs before Farnsworth.
They were all mechanical.
Seems very steampunk.

Oh, and I tested the coil assembly tonight for leaks. I hooked it up to the airlines and isolated it with a ball valve, then disconnected the air completely. It held rock solid steady at 135 psi for 30 minutes. It never budged so I took that as evidence of no leaking in the welds.

WOOT!!

Unjon, that's been driving me crazy trying to figure out what it was.
If you search sprockets, hub comes up, so I was sure that couldn't be it!!
Try a parts page next time.
Nice to know someone's memory is as erratic as mine.

But check out this cool 14 speed internal hub gearset I found!!
Sealed from dust!
Too bad about the exchange rate these days.

That hub is called a H bushing..

Tryed to ask for a hub that go's inside a sprocket and got a bunch of shit questions..

Bout the time I was into pulling this guys nut out his mouth.

A farmer standing there said "He wants an Hbushing"..

Once I saw what it looked like I didn't want it.. weighed about 5 lb... Soooo

I have three collars and three washers.. I will drill, tap and assemble my own.. Can not weld these.. Think they would get to hot.. Then drill and bolt the sprockets of the size I want to the new bushing.. Three of them will weigh about the same a one from the store.. Also this allows me to stay with bike chain.. It's always good to keep everything the same size..

Nothing wrong with that.
I know someone who makes their own suspension bushings out of bronze stock.
It doesn't last as long as delrin or teflon but costs him little to replace.
And this is on a formula car so there is plenty of load on the parts.
I think pegasus has a lot of unusual fitting parts.

The next trick is to fit a sprocket to the spoke ring of a three speed coaster brake..

The coaster will hang in the frame half way to axel.. Then the new sprocket will be chain the final drive to the axel.. THis will give me a free wheel and brake..

On a project of mine, I took 2 deraileur hubs and cut the spokes off, then ground the bearing cup from the offside of one, so it fit in the offside of the other. this made a hub about 1.8 times as long as one, but had a cluster gear and freewheel on both ends. Brazed the two cups together. This became an intermediate shaft between the pedals and final drive. Lots of ratios, and more overall reduction to the rear wheel.

great link, gyre.

I like the big one-lunger at the bottom with the wood and forged metal front forks, but the one with the radial engine on the list to the side is pretty impressive too. Maybe I need to start diversifying my profession.
