I suggested:
1. thunderdome
2. Mutaytor
3. Deep End

two times a day, at dawn, and at dusk, there is is beautiful silohuette that occurs at the mountain ridge that runs almost 360 degrees around the playa.
the outline and the bumps and the contours of the slice between sky and earth is something that is burned (no pun intended) into my mind and that i know like the back of my hand.
usually, on the first day that i arrive, whenever that moment comes, and the sun is either coming or going, i spin slowly around and look at the mountains.
it is a must see.

Re: Burningman Must Sees
Must see water bottle approaching mouth repeatedly all day and night!
I think the only way you could "miss out" on seeing incredible sights is if you are trying to run from place to place and check off a to-do list! Just tell your friend to accept the fact that they can't see it all -- you still couldn't see it all if you're there for the whole week -- but not to worry because they are definitely going to have amazing experiences. Oftentimes I'll just spot something off in the distance and make my way towards it, and allow for some meandering and distraction along the way. And the people you randomly meet are really fascinating, so you want to be open to a flexible schedule and not worry about being "on time" too much.

I'd tell him to wander aimlessly as much as possible- that way he'll keep "discovering" OMG moments for himself and get a better feel for what keeps people coming back to BRC.
Personally I love Deep End & Mutaytor, and Thunderdome is good for a kick once in a while, but you can watch people get into fights anywhere, and a dance club is a dance club, even if it's in the middle of the fucking playa. He should go to them if he wants to dance, but I wouldn't call them "must see"
I think my must see is more along the lines of going way out towards the trash fence sometime late at night (when it's really dark), and just looking back at the city. The sound of the music & all the lights always look like a psychotic Oz to me, and is somehow calming & magical. I do it every year.

I've seen Deep End and have managed to never stop and linger. Saw Mutaytor at Dark Skies, and never have managed to wander by Thunderdome except when it was empty and sad.
Mostly we wander around. Make the big burn doing fire safety. Hit the trash fence once or twice. Have a drink at the Golden Cafe.

Just make sure you take at least one trek out towards the end of the week to look at all the deep-playa art. Really amazing stuff, and best done once in the daylight and once at night, cause some of that stuff really comes alive after the sun goes down.

The Tuna Guys, who came to burning man for profit, and stayed.
The very heart of the random and unlikely way people end up here.
But there are so many others every year.
The unmarked camp, set up to rescue lost and weary travelers...
The guys who decided to let people come to them one year and set up what I called 'Shade, Drinks and Conversation with Naked Gay Guys' camp....a break from the heat.
Everywhere you go another surprize.
The dreamtime circular art piece set up in a private camp...
Some of the best memories are from places I stumbled across on my way to somewhere else.
Know when to drop all plans and stay.

This follows under Must Sees and Must Dos
The Annual ePlaya/3playa Meet & Greet at Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro, Thursday at 6 p.m.
Of course visiting BDC&WB is the highlight of most every burner's true experience, so it probably doesn't even need to be mentioned. But now that it is, we'll see you at the Barbie-que.

(since we are gifting info about camps......it's not a plug, i swear)
stop on by "Root Society".
it's The BRFC with the T to the P's
if you are having issues with gall stones , we will sonically blast them into little pieces that are easy to pass using our patented ULTRA-Sound technology...
stand exactly 10 ft back from one of the speakers and trust me, SOMETHING will move....
this year, kick off party with live (as opposed to dead) acts on wednesday.
not sure yet, but chances are we'll be at 10 and 'splade...
