Can anybody vouch for these liquors?
Hey gang --
My little crew is gearing up to put up a neighborhood bar and sound system for some playa afternoon groovin', drinkin' and hoopin'. We're Tasty Noodles and we'll be in Oobleck Village. We've got some cool art and super-fun-to-play with oobleck. Not to mention a cool bar with chill grooves. Come play with us!
But I write regarding liquor for our bar. I met a new friend who can't make it this year, but he's a wine salesman and has offered to hook me up with a distributor he knows to meet some of our needs. I jumped on it and told him I want a grip of vodka, tequila and bourbon (We'll pick up the rest of our needs later...). He came back with the following brands, none of which I've seen or tasted.
Taak Vodka
Orendain Tequila
Fighting Cock Bourbon
Can anybody tell me if these brands are any good or what they might compare to?
Thanks and cheers!

The Fighting Cock is sort of a lower shelf bourbon. At least that's where they have it around here. I've never tried it, but it’d probably be fine for mixing. Heck, it would be great, but I have my doubts. Either way, I’d say it’d do just fine for the playa.
Although, I’d advise something better for serving on the rocks to people you know, etc. And please don't just slam the good stuff. If you're gonna just slam it, fighting cock is probably a good choice.
Just my thoughts on it.

I can say with 100% certainty that Fighting Cock is an excellent choice for "just slammin it" but not the kind of stuff you break out for important guests.LeChatNoir wrote:The Fighting Cock is sort of a lower shelf bourbon. You get what you pay for. And so do BRC citizens.
Some bars change the labels to playa liquor names. A class act step I'd say.
Look into doing a bulk order with a local liquor store chain. It can save you some money. Just call the store or the main office. If they aren't accomidating, tell then the name of the store you'll be calling next to give money to. Then wait a couple seconds for their attitude to change then hang up while they're talking! Know the retail prices from a couple stores beforehand. Otherwise, you'll never know if you're getting a deal or not.
Don't forget pourers. The little spout that you put on the bottle. Unfortunately those usually don't work on the 1.75L bottles. So a partial order of vodka, gin, rum, tequila, whiskey, bourbon etc in regular fifth sized bottle will give you a vessel to refil. You're also not throwing out those nice labels you made out. Using the smaller refillable bottles will also look classier and take up less room behind the bar. Using pourers helps A LOT with portion control. Nothing like someone not drinking a cocktail made for them as a gift and not being able to drink it cause it was too strong, unbalanced etc. (I know, too strong, ya right!) This will also make your booze stretch a little farther.
