I can't believe no one's metioned black tar heroin and a shovel to the head. Works like a charm.

I have a prescription for Provigil this year, so I guess Burning Man could be one hell of a "How long can I go without sleep on these pills" test. Most likely I'll leave them at home though, seeing as how I already don't want to sleep when I'm out there.

I've posted my sleeping solution elsewhere here, but...wtf:

I use earplugs, plus a pair of cheap headphones (the "around-the-back-of-your-neck" kind work great for sleeping). Plug the headphones into either

a) a white noise generator (many candy-ass varieties available at Brookstone, etc), or

b) a radio tuned to a dead spot on the FM band.

Completely blocks out ALL sound, and I sleep like a baby every night on the playa (only without wetting the bed...usually). The earplugs alone don't quite do it for me. But add the crankin' white noise, and you could sleep ANYWHERE.

My biggest issue with sleep came after I left and that Monday night in the hotel. It was so quiet I could hear the air screaming to be let out.

I was actually surprised at how easily I feel asleep and stayed asleep. Once I tarped off the sunrise end of the carport, I could make it until 9 or 10 in the morning.

before i see the blobs though, i see the white indian - hes an indian in full headdress and white leathers and beads, standing in the road, off to the side or so. You only catch glimpses of him. Just long enough to realize who he is.

mine's a skinny grey wolf and he's standing right in front of me telling me not to run over him and to swerve and plunge right off that cliff. really. I call him Sleep Wolf.
I see trees along the side of the road where there aren't any. (Usually by about the time I get to Nevada after driving essentially nonstop from Michigan.) Sometimes they're really big yucca or clumps of prickly pear, but usually they're huge oaks that reach up and over the road.

...how long do you need to stay awake to see the white Motorcycle Cop, Cowboy or Construction Worker?
