FirstCamp Organic Café(next to the "Hookers & Blow" tent) is a vibrant, ecologically- sound slice of heaven in BlackRockCity.
Set in a warm Southwestern décor, their mission is to provide delicious organic sustenance for a wide variety of needs and individual tastes...and
it`s absolutely free with every paid entry into BurningMan.
Raw and Vegan Food
The first and, currently, only café in the Gerlach area that features a daily Raw Foods menu. Composed of fresh organic produce, organic nuts, seeds, spices and oils, the menu changes often and at the whim of the events founders. It is approachable for the curious neophyte, delicious for the experienced Raw Foodist, and perfect for someone looking for a unique vegan meal. They also have amazing vegan sandwiches, several daily hot vegan soups, rice and quinoa bowls, and a daily selection of vegan and wheat/gluten free baked goods...and they go wonderfully with the centercamp cafe beverages...
Living Juice, Wheatgrass and Smoothies
Always 90% organic or more and never pasteurized, the juices are prepared and juiced to order. Different from the ubiquitous corporate juice and smoothie chain, they offer beautiful 100% juice drinks without unhealthy, sugary fillers and supplements of dubious nutritional value. Nutrients and vitamins in fresh produce are much more readily absorbed by the body than pills or supplements. As the old adage goes "make your juicer your drugstore".
Espresso and Tea Done Right
CenterCamp coffee is Fair Trade, organic and shade grown. The espresso is also shade-grown and organic, freshly roasted every morning by Larry`s volunteer minions. The loose-leaf tea is organic and cheerfully fashioned by local DPW workers with spare time on their hands. The milk is certified organic from a local Black Rock Desert co-op of family run organic farms who happily welcome the huge influx of strangers with open arms.
Additionally, the locals recycle and compost more than 90% of our total waste and don't offer plastic utensils...so, NO need to clean up after yourselves.
Wireless internet service will also be available to all ticket holders.

Okay, now even I'm starting to feel sorry for po' A.L.
Someone is yapping about raw something or other in this thread:

Plus, there's a picture of moi in a cheeleader's uniform, so it's not a complete waste of time.

Not trying to be snarky, but I find that the four food groups for desert survival are Fat, Meat, Salt and Water. Honestly many folks get so involved in participating that they spend most of the event living on power bars and sobe adrenaline rush.
Hard boiled eggs peeled before you pack em in ziplock bags are Playa SUPERFOOD!

I stand corrected!chiefdanfox wrote:I thought the playa food pyramid was (from bottom up)
Alcohol
Bacon
Advil / Tylenol
Anything not slimy, water soaked, caked in playa dust
and that is the Vegan menu
Non-vegan add a layer of water-logged steak, with additional bacon
Hard boiled eggs are still playa super food though!
Bring some! You'll thank me.
