Glue
So, I'm working with these fake flowers that I don't trust not to lose plastic pistons without being secured by glue. I have a glue gun, but I'm thinking that, based on the size of the little flowers and wanting to glue them on several sides--not wanting to have to stick my fingers in hot gluey piles--it might be a lot easier to just work with Sobu craft glue. I've had a lot of luck with this in art class and have gotten it to hold up lots of heavy change mounted on cardboard... So I believe it's strong.
Just wanted some insight, if anyone had recommendations either way, toward using the Sobu or using the glue gun. Thanks!

Don't know anything about Sobu craft glue.
I prefer Barge Cement. Available a lot of places. It is my favorite.

Don't use a glue gun - the glue is made to melt and I have seen catastrophic failures on the playa due to melting/softening hot glue.
Tacky glue is great with flowers but Teo is right, goop is your friend.
The only advantage of hot glue is it sets up instantly so you have no real drying time. I have often used a combination of hot glue to tack things together and tacky glue to make the bond last.
Floral tape works surprisingly well on the playa too.

Agreed, a glue gun is not the best for the playa.
Barge: Works good but it is a contact cement, so it limited in where it will work well. Good for things like attaching ornaments to a mutant vehicle, etc.
Goop: My favorite. 100% playaproof for nearly everything. Works great for attaching stuff to clothes, bikes, tents, etc. Dries overnight, and does give off some fumes until it is dry. If using it on clothing, the secret is to apply it very sparingly (little dots) to avoid stiff parts. My EL wire/LED/Faux Fur coat was bombproof using this stuff.
e 2000 or e 6000 glue: Similar to the others above. Some people swear by the stuff but I just dont like it.
Liquid Nails: Not good for clothing. Very good for bonding dissimilar non-porous or semi-porous materials (i.e. for attaching metal to wood.)

seriously, I used Goop last night to affix a small water pressure gauge to my steampunk bike. The best thing about Goop is that its waterproof, stands up to Playa heat, is strong as hell, and unlike Liquid Nails (which sucks) will come off with some patience and a bit of pulling and peeling...(though after a year, its much harder to peel off.)
This stuff is strong enough to glue a headlight to the fender of a bike and have it stay on for years, also strong enough to glue a license plate to a trailer and have it stay on for years. Both real world examples.

Sobu will work fine for what you're doing, & it will set up a lot faster than Goop will. Just remember to let the Sobu get tacky before you put the pistons on- if you try to put them in when it's still wet it will take forever for it to dry. "Mighty Tacky" will work as well.
Goop is good, but I don't use it for everything.

Schnee-Morehead has a lot of good adhesives.
I've used their seam sealer for attaching to things like oxidized aluminum.
Designed as a sealant, but works as a glue.
Also sticks to old wood.
Stays flexible for years, sticky for some time.
I'm using their polyurethane for attaching large sheets of aluminum to my trailers, to steel and aluminum and wood.
