The first time I heard about Burning Man was in an apartment above Toronado in '94. A guy had a flier for the upcoming burn - absolute collectors item at this point - that said (something like): "it's art, it's ritual, but most of all, it's a GREAT PARTY."

First impressions must really matter, because after so many years, I still think of it at a GREAT PARTY. All this about idealism, supposed to be blah blah, community blah blah. Whatever. Let's PARTY!
