Camp Anonymous is listed in the hand out booklet (what where when) you recieve at the gate.. There are meetings around the clock.. Lots of shakey people you can help in "your" 12th step.. I put a sign on my camp: "recovery spoken here"..

Hi Hootdaddy,

The web presence of Camp Anonymous has been in disarray for some time now. A small group is currently trying to get that back together again. In the meantime you can visit this sparse site: www.burnsober.org. The main piece of info you'll get there is the link to join the Burning Desires email list. Join that list and you will be connected to the Camp Anonymous folks.

Well, Yeasterday I clawed scratched and white knunkled it through another year of recovery

.. Counted then all up and it amounts to 45 years..

I have been very comfortble for the last 40 years.. Even as life has handed me a few good wacks.. My life has been one hell of a ride.. I am happy didn't miss any of it being fuck up on drugs..

And if you would like to chill with some folks who aren't always gassed out of their minds but you don't necessarily wish to go to a meeting, many in our camp completely abstain from substances. I'm sober over 21 years, many of them in AA, and I still go now and then. I will probably pop over to Hokey Pokey on 3:00 plaza at least once or twice. Stop by Destiny Lounge at 3:00 and Arctic, where the Ice Tea and Lemonade will NOT be spiked! See you on the playa!!

Hello all,

Just got back from the Playa and wanted to share with you what a GREAT camp Hokey Pokey is......
Friday Morning my wife and I were in the ice line , while in line I stepped into the Hokey Pokey camp to ask about the 12 step ladder that is placed each year at the Temple...
Well, we chatted a little and I told them that I will be celebrating my 20 year sober later that day..
They said that Friday was the day to hand out birthday chips ..

I got my 20th at the 3 o'clock plaza as the DPW parade was going by... It was to Fucking cool.... So thanks everyone Thanks.....

If anybody needs to take a walk & catch a breath from previous temptations of substances, swing by COFFEE CAMP. Hot coffee in the morn & night, good conversing, and hopefully, a weighstation platform to think to oneself. Caffeine- More energetic than alcohol and without the up-all-nights of speed

Located about 7:45 & 3 streets back from Esplanade.

its easy for a recovering person to trip at BM - and for rookies to party so hard Monday and Tuesday that they wish they were dead Wednesday and on.

Pace yourself, and attend one of the dozen meetings on playa every day

well done on the sober days/years you all!

2007 was my first burn and I did it sober even though it had only been about 40 days since my last drink. Had some heavy drinkers in our camp so that was annoying but it was still a very cool time. I'm REALLY going to have a fun sober time this year :)

I'm not sober all year, and that's just because I've been lucky enough to consume drugs and alcohol in moderation without any issues, but I did spend 2006 completely sober on the Playa. Not so much as a drop of booze, and you know what? I had a great time during what should have been a really tough week (camp mate drama, evil girlfriend... blah). Everyone in my camp was fucked up the entire time, but I think I had more fun than most of them because I wasn't burnt out every morning. I went more places and attending more events that year than in any of the six years I've trekked out to BRC.

This year I'll probably have a few drinks at some random bars along the way, but the only booze I'll be bringing will be for gifting said bars. I don't need it right there by my tent encouraging me not to leave my dome for another six hours. If I want booze, I wanna have to head out and rejoin society for it. I am gonna bring some nitrous though... I may even inhale it while not under the supervision of a trained dental professional.

WOW!!! This is my first year going to the playa sober and I AM SO EXCITED!!! Each year I was doing less and less and actually enjoying it more and more...we are having meetings at FREEDOME in the Greenltdistrcit once a day. I'm excited to meet other sober burners so please keep drop me a line and check back for when we get our location!!! Also Let me know if you hear of other meetings in BRC!! GONNA HAVE A GOOD TIME as we trudge the road of happy destiny!

Yougottawanta.. i was 24 at the time just out after 18 months for beating a guy.. Some people in a 12 step program explained to me what the was wrong with me.. I made a life changing disscion. I'm 71 this year.. I think I made the right choice
