hello
my name is Vahakn and it is my mission to spend the summer in SF before BM and work. What would be the perfect thing: to find a crew or company that do public interactive design / artwork and help builds / design / construction and the creative process. It would be amazing if they are also doing BM. I would like to join a crew and help the build and join the chaos.
I am not coming to the US unless i can find some work and a place to stay.
I have US passport which is very useful, no? i am armed with skills to pay the bills and super reliability. I am currently doing a masters in Design at arguable the worlds best Design / Art school (Royal College of Art).
I will paste my CV below just so you know that I am for real!
So if you are in need of help or have a job for me please get in touch.
i need to get out of london BIGTIME!

Most interesting things first
Currently
MA at Royal College of Art in Design Products, London.
Already did
BA at University of Brighton in Three Dimensional Design (which really means a design degree in wood metal ceramics liquid + solid plastics).
Interned for and then employed by the awesome
Troika Design, in assistant design, prototyping and research.
I am British born and a real Londoner, although my parents ar far flung, I am mainly Armenian and German with a hint of Cyprus and America blended in. My background is colourful and mixed. I have a huge appetite for other cultures arts, design, food, music, nature and the usual things that are great about the world.
Working at Troika was amazing. I was mainly building prototypes and test rigs for fully interactive installations whilst co-curating a book on device art and interactive design / art [THAMES + HUDSON]. Of the exciting projects,
The Cloud for Heathrow Terminal 5 stands out.
I am a maker, a thinker, a constructor. I really like fully engaging interaction design. product design, figuring out the impossible and a real challenge. Please do have a look at my portfolio either attached or online at vahakn.co.uk
I am really quite good at:
construction methods like
carpentry
metal work
including welding
liquid and solid plastics
mould making
fine work
mostly all workshop machines + tools
electronics (a work in progress)
I can draw pretty much anything with a pencil but I am also quite happy with most digital design digital
design softwares like the Adobe Suite and Rhino.
Having looked after a hundred machines in the media pool at University
left me pretty comfortable with computers, but give me an outdoor workshop, a problem to solve, someone to work with and learn from any day.
Design is not my only passion as I produce, record and perform a lot of music and work with film. Music, audio and video gear are well in my repertoire, and my aural tools are sharp.
Quite a lot more detail about my experience

U K lad N E E D S w o r k i n SAN FRAN! + BM crew...
If you have a US Passport (i.e. are a US citizen) then you can legally work in the US.
Just post your resume on Dice or Monster and see if there is any interest.
Check out CraigsList for job listings or post your availability.
You might want to do a Google search for "San Francisco Jobs"
You may also want to look at working at a temp agency, which is really easy to qualify for if you can do basic touch typing and clerical work. (Yeah, sorry, not as glamorous as you are looking for but a job is a job)
In the US, it is unlikely for a job to find you unless you are infamous in your field. You will have to put in the effort and find the job yourself. This often means applying for tens or hundreds of possible opportunities before finding something that fits.
Good Luck

Actually, I'm pretty sure just having a passport doesn't mean you can legally work in the states. You need a work visa, and my guess would be that at this late date, unless it was something that was sponsored by an employer it would never be granted. Actually, unless the rules have changed, they're probably out of the sponsored visas (only a certain number are awarded each year).
Your best bet might be to check Monster.com or within the design community, to try and get either an internship or paid position that will help you make it happen. The e-playa boards isn't generally the sort of place most HR recruiters frequent.
Good luck!
