Phil reported in another thread that the RUMOR is he plead guilty to felony arson and was sentenced to 12 to 24 months.

It sounds like a good sentence with the right mix of jail time and making him earn some coin he doesn't have to make things right. Maybe as he's sitting there with time to think or he's having to bust his ass to pay that fine he'll have a revelation that burning other people's art is wrong.

Slow justice is better than no justice...and unless he appeals it he can be relegated to the scrapheap of BM history and forgot about. It's time to move on!

RENO, Nev. (AP) - A San Francisco performance artist was sentenced Friday to as many as four years in prison and ordered to pay restitution for the early torching last summer of the signature effigy of the counterculture Burning Man festival.

Paul Addis pleaded guilty in May to one felony count of injury to property stemming from the burning of the 40-foot icon on Aug. 28â€”four days earlier than planned. He was ordered to pay $30,000 in restitution.

Addis, 35, was taken into custody after a hearing this week in Pershing County District Court in Lovelock.

Burning Man organizers rebuilt the effigy in time for it to go up in flames in the ceremonial climax of the annual weekend festival in the northern Nevada desert.

Addis has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts related to an alleged October arson attempt at San Francisco's historic Grace Cathedral. He was out on bail in the Burning Man case when police say he was found with an ammunition belt of small explosives outside the Episcopal church.

Burning Man, an eclectic art, music and performance festival that draws more than 40,000 people, began in 1986 at San Francisco's Baker Beach and was moved to the Black Rock Desert in 1990.

That would be Your opinion. It happens that I dont give a fuck about what he did. No one was hurt. Nothing happened. And it was brilliant to watch. Was it stupid? sure. Do i care or want him to "pay"? Fuck no. Would either of you call me an idiot to my face? Likely no. oh ps- Ill at least agree Addis is sick. Not becuase of the man but becuase of the attempted arson/terrorism thing he got caught doing a few months later. Seems burning man wasnt the only place he wanted to do some RADICAL self expression.

I got in late Monday night and was too tired to watch the eclipse (Hey defense...a migitation circumstance...) and slept throught the first burn.

We had our chance at collective punishment when the let Paul climb down. I mean like the FOOL volunteered to be up on the Man while he burned, like we have first ammendment rights as a pagan nation.
