German Stahlhelm (Steel Helmet)..still taboo?
I see bikers wearing the DOT approved helmets...but the real ones? Are they really disturbing? They've been made a symbol, but their history pre-dates the nazis. I'm curious to see how people feel about them...or don't feel about them. I'm bringing mine, regardless..but have a helmet cover, to hide the decals. Don't want to offend, but is part of my "American Dream" theme. What is your opinion? I'm also bringing my pickelhaube..if that offends you, too fucking bad! Peace!
anything worth doing is worth overdoing..

If it is "original", don't bring it.TomServo wrote:I see bikers wearing the DOT approved helmets...but the real ones? Are they really disturbing? cowboy, thats down right ignorant. The KKK is pretty much straight forward. The Stahlhelm, as I said before predates the nazis..it was such a good helmet, that the U.S. military adopted the stahlhelm (sallet) style. And if a pickelhaube upsets you, your just stupid.

Well, most of the symbols that folks associate with the Nazis are pretty charged, but what the hell, a lot of what made America a war superpower has roots in Nazi actions, Nazi technology, Jewish scientists run out of das Vaterland by the intolerance and bigotry the Nazis fomented, so maybe it is also a symbol of America, ja?
It is not like that lil ole helmet had anything at all to do with the inexorable goose-stepping towards a military buildup, a power grab by a right-wing xenophobe and subsequent war that killed 60 million Allied people. The swastika was around thousands of years before the Nazis. It isn't guilty of 70 million deaths either. Poor lil swastika. Poor lil helmet.

See ugly and tom, you don't see a joke when I posted it and then someone would have to come and ruin our fun by getting all technical and stuff!
Your helmet made it's appearance when we kick your nazi ass the first time! Really, if you guys had a little humor in your genes then maybe we could have avoided two wars in the first place! lighten up and take some drugs like acid and go look at the flowers in the country!
I like the helmet in Spaceballs! It's really huge- like my balls.
