Last year our golf cart started sneezing on third night of driving around.
Also the drive belt was slipping some times(it's belt driven). I blame the dust...
Any ideas on how to protect the motor?
It's wide open on the botom. I was thinking to install regular air filters(used in home appliances), just attach them to the openings on the bottom, but there may not be enough clearance....
Any beter ideas?
Maybe attaching a small pouch/filter to air intake and replacing it regulary based on conditions?
Wiping the belt clean?
This is us last year

Dust protection for a motor
You can run a snorkel up high and use a prefilter.
Add the best and biggest filter you can to the engine.
I'm using a goretex filter on my vac right now that is supposed to shake dust off easily.
A pan or deflector may shield from a lot of dust but you must maintain cooling.
i would ask baja racers about the belt.
They deal with that.

Get a rainbow vacuum cleaner with the water filter/trap. Connect the golfcart motor to the vac outlet/blower. Use some of your orange and pink stockings aroung some fake legs for a prefilter on the vacuum side of the rainbow...
no, ya don't have to run the rainbow vac
change the water as needed......

The vac filter I am using is the Cleanstream by Goretex.
Sold at Lowe's and can be mail ordered.
I think the biggest one I found was for crafstman or ridgid, if you don't have a vac to use it in.
You can get the Shopvac orange foam prefilters by special order thru Lowes.
It's the part for the old hepa filter.
About $2 each.
You might find a setup in a junkyard cheap too.
The flat type corrugated filters may work best for you.
Prefilters are great as long as you change them or clean them.
