Ok, so I'm building this wooden model of a tree and burning it with chemicals so that it burns green.
THe things I need are:
Transportation
Jigsaw/Jigsaws
cordless drill
space to work
methyl alcohol/boric acid
extra set of hands
a place to burn an 8' wooden model of a tree (green)
Its quite a longshot, but if anyone wants to help with this project. just let me know. thanks

Woodworking project help
I feel more like I do now than I did before
Re: Woodworking project help
Just a recommendation. If you haven't already, build a much smaller model for testing. 8 feet is pretty big for a "model". Do a 3-4 footer first for asthetic positioinings and testing of your chemical colorations. Then build bigger, and bigger. The DubJunglist wrote:Ok, so I'm building this wooden model of a tree and burning it with chemicals so that it burns green.

Over the course of last year, I constructed and burned a number of effigies. Starting out at about 5 foot tall with the tallest being about 16 feet. Boy was I glad I did the tiny ones FIRST. If I had jumped in with the 16 footer, it would have been a hair-pulling, frustraiting disaster.
Also, I assume you're in SF? How far away could you drive for a work space (I don't have one but someone else in the Bay Area might)?

I will be picking up some methanol this weekend for my fire art project. I will get a couple of extra gallons if you like. Boric acid is easy. Roach killer at Home Depot. Cheap too. I have a quantity of Lithium Chloride. It is a little more expensive but I could spare some to experiment with red flames. I have lots of Boric acid here. I will mix a gallon of each for your project if you like. You'll have to cross the bridge to Oakland to get it. Advise if this helps at all.
Those who think they can and those who think they can't are both right.
