Can someone confirm if block ice is sold at BRC?

Can someone confirm if block ice is sold at BRC?

Post by Terlin » Sun Jul 06, 2008 1:20 am

I have read that ice is sold at BRC but there is no mention as to what type of ice is sold.

Also on what day do they stop selling ice?

There sill be a self service ice shaver too, so you can make all the margaritas and icees you want.

I was wondering about this myself, too!

Good to know the Margareta's will be flowing!

They have block ice and cubed ice every year. I actually think the blocks are a buck cheaper too, but I can't remember for sure. My memories of buying ice on the playa are all a teensy bit fuzzy.

If you are staying until Tuesday (for exodus, cleanup, art project, whatever) make sure to get ice Sunday morning. Although you can often get some ice from people leaving on Monday that don't need it anymore.

Last year block and cube ice were both $3 per bag, by my memory, which was up from $2 per bag earlier years. And before the complaints about the price rise pour in, you should know that the profits go to local schools and charities.

Thank you all for your responses on this thread.

I am glad to find that block ice will be sold on the playa as it lasts longer than crushed and I will probably be staying until Tuesday and was afraid to run out.

If you're staying till Tuesday it's not a bad idea to bring out a few MRE's. You can get them at your local army supply/camping store, but you're going to overpay for them if you do them that way. That's fine if you just need a couple, but if you're buying in bulk the internets are a much better bet. I tend to bring enough MRE's for lunch everyday, and then all three meals on Monday and Tuesday, since most of the camp leaves Monday and the stove will most likely be packed.
